Great food, always fresh and hot, meat is always moist, soft drinks are good especially with the shaved ice....
I waited until I had my second meal here before I wrote this just to make sure my first experience wasn't a fluke. I have heard very good things about this place but I surely haven't had anything there very good. I went with several people for lunch and everyone had something different. Nothing had much taste and looked even... More
Vejars has been serving good Mexican food in Tulare for years and they do it well. My wife and I have eaten here a number of times and always enjoy our meal and definitely with a full belly. As with many older restaurants Vejar's decor is showing it's age. PS - try the sweet sauce on your chips before your... More
On our way from LA to Shaver Lake we stopped here for lunch. It was fantastic! We had 5 kids and 2 adults everyone was satisfied! The highlight for the kids was the fried ice cream, I loved my burrito. It was a great place to stop!!!
If you are looking for classic Mexican home-style cooking, go to Vejar's in Tulare. It's a few blocks west of 99, on K Street (take the Bardsley Road exit). Definitely worth a drive! The menu is huge and varied, with something for everyone. Everything is cooked to order. All the dishes we have tried (chile rellenos, enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, beans)... More
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Tulare but we'll never go back. We sat in the bar and I ordered cheese nachos because I wasn't very hungry. The chips that the bartender gave us when we first sat down were stale. The salsa didn't taste as good as it used to. The bartender not very friendly... More
Vejars is not inexpensive Mexican food, but every time I have been there, it's been good. I had a chile verde quesadilla today, super! The place was packed out with people at lunch time, no problem, my ice tea never was close to empty when it was re-filled, food came out fairly quickly and was delicious. What's not to like?
Great decor, nuce bar, and friendly service, but it's downhill to the food. Too expensive, not all that authentic, which is disappointing in a community in the heart of the central valley. More like Americanized Mexican food than the real thing.
