Old fashioned, 1950's setting with steaks prepared to one's exact liking and a fun 50's twist of seasoned wheat checks on the salads instead of croutons. Delicious homemade pies - peanut butter pie is a tradition.

Nothing special at all, nothing about the meal stood out and I have not been back to give them a second chance.

My first visit to the Black Steer. Ordered the, $25.99, T-Bone steak dinner. There is no way that this 1/2" steak was 14 oz. I ordered it medium rare. It came out medium well. I ordered mashed potatoes with dark gravy. Got a small ice cream scoop of potatoes, that I could eat in 2 bites, with a pint of... More

We have frequented the Black Steer regularly since moving to the area 8 years ago. Our previous visits have always had good food and service. As we had not dined in quite a while we brought our out-of-town friends for dinner. Unfortunately, our visit did not meet our usual expectations. The daily special was a club steak (10 oz sirloin)... By acclaim, we always agree to return to the Black Steer to celebrate the Holidays and the steak menu at the Rear of the Steer. Good steaks, good conversation, and a good celebration.

This restaurant has been around for at least 30 years. You have to be doing something right to last that long in the restaurant business. Old time Western Atmosphere. Service is great and the food is good.

We moved here in 2012, started looking for our new place for a great steak. Who knew "The Rear of Steer" would have the best steaks around!!! Service has always been spot on! Their Desserts are out of this world!! Oh and my favorite, Spicy Bloody Mary!! THE BOMB!! Best kept secret ever!!!

We holed up in a banquette in the Rear of the Steer bar on our first visit here and were underwhelmed by the chewy signature pepper steak and the stale house pinot noir. There must be better cuts on the menu since these guys have been around since 1966. We might give them one more try for their ribeye.

Have been coming to this restaurant for years. The club steak sandwich is wonderful. Salad is plentiful and the steak is tender. Didn't have the dessert, but in the past have enjoyed the peanut butter pie. This is a don't miss place!
