Another place we haven't gone to for awhile because our last visit was so irritating with all the yelling and loud conversations coming from the kitchen (in Spanish). We felt like there was a brawl going on back there! Otherwise the food was decent and...our waitress very niceMore

In the past couple of years, the food quality and portion size have gone downhill; it is filthy dirty (menus are messy with food, floors look dirty, and bathrooms UGH), and the service is below par. What happened to the margaritas? They used to be...excellent, not anymore. Shelby, the so-called manager, is rude and has no clue how to manage a restaurant, and it shows by the way she interacts and talks with customers. Service is slow and if you need a refill or even another napkin, plan on waiting since the wait staff can frequently be seen outside smoking or in their cars smoking. When they come back in, they're smelling like cigarette smoke, or you know, the other kind of smoke an added treat when you're having dinner. I have read some of the owners' responses to other reviews, and I am shocked at their lack of professionalism, even being a family-owned restaurant.More

After hitting the trail at Meyer Ranch in Aspen Park Colorado, we wanted to have dinner al fresco. This is a perfect spot close to the park and beats the heck out of eating inside at the local strip mall. Great service and we were...able to eat late on the patio. Try the Nachos Idaho with extra beans for a tasty appetizer. Best kept secret in the area... spread the word 👍🏼🌮🔥More

This place is horrible I’m surprised they are allowed to operate I don’t think they are up to code. It was freezing in there to start then the chips had a rancid bitter aftertaste and the quesadilla was microwaved. If you are thinking of stopping...here DONT drive about 2 minutes further to the next town where there is a qdoba and plenty of other better places to eat. We made the mistake to stop here and we were worried we were gonna be sick after eating here luckily we didn’t get sick but the food is really bad here.More

Great salsa and food! All fresh ingredients. Wanted a margarita, but decided not since I was driving. Nice lunch stop while on vacation.

Stopped for lunch on the way to Breckenridge, the food was excellent! Salsa was the bomb, fresh made. Friendly atmosphere, great service. You should give it a try.

Carreta Vieja is a small little restaurant sharing a building with a gas station and a Jazzercise studio. When I first moved into the area in 2009, Carreta Vieja was really good. Over the years the quality of the food slowing declined. We stopped in...today and found it is under new management. One poor lady was mixing drinks from the bar and waiting five tables. The service was slow, but she was doing her best. Finally, a second server appeared and things got a little better. The fresh chips and homemade salsa were good. The meals were ok. Overall, not bad, but nothing to get excited about either. Next time we're coming back up from Denver we might stop in, but then again we might try one of the many Mexican restaurants "down the hill," as the locals say.More

I was returning to Denver with friends who have a cabin in the Bailey area and they were familiar with Carreta Vieja (raving about the excellent Mexican food served here). The restaurant is next to a convenience store at a Stop N Go Gas Station...right on Hwy. 285 not far from Conifer or Morrison. We arrived for lunch about 12:30 pm. on Sunday. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but we were greeted by a very cordial waitress. The place is really charming inside....nicely appointed ...colorful.....with a bar area as well as the dining room. The waitress brought us water and chips and salsa once we were seated. She asked if we had been before and explained a bit about the menu. I picked the Carreta Viejo Burrito (with chicken inside) and my friends had Carne Asada. The portions are quite large but more importantly are excellent. Everything is made fresh from salsa to sauces to the entire meal. Our waitress checked on us several times both refreshing our water and seeing how we were enjoying our meal. I have to say this is some of the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. While we were dining more and more people arrived. Obviously, the locals know about this restaurant but unless you know, it would be difficult to realize it was where it was or that is was so good. There is an old wagon along the highway which is a symbol of the restaurant. Anyway....I am writing this review because this is really a great place to eat. If you happen to be venturing along Hwy. 285, I would definitely recommend it. I probably will even make some special trips from Denver to dine here because it is so good. And service was so friendly and excellent.More

We ordered an eighty dollar meal for four over the phone with this restaurant. We picked up the meal to go. While we were excitedly unpacking the meal several things wrong became apparent. The restaurant had forgotten to include several "must have" items, and had...neglected to inform a customer that her choice wasn't available. The decision was made to go back and give them a chance to make the issue right. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by a server and explained to him the issues we have, and asked for a refund for the food we were returning. The server spoke with his nonexistent manager and returned to tell us this wasn't possible. After finally dragging the manager out of her office to deal with this customer service situation, we were berated for bothering her and informed of her importance. When I insisted on a refund, she finally relented while saying all along, "Customers don't complain, ... customers don't complain,..." I wouldn't eat a bite of what we finally ended up with. I can't honestly speak as to the quality of their food, but if it's any indication, their customer service says it sucks.More

Best Mexican food in the Conifer area. Scott's margaritas are refreshing and delicious and definitely keep us coming back. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go, and the service has always been friendly and inviting!

What made this meal great was friends! Margarita was done right, chips and salsa were fine. Friends raves about their margaritas. Small combination plate with cheese enchilada and tostada was okay. Very bland no spice to it. Husband’s fajitas contained very grisly meat. Waiter was...attentive. Surprised he asked what kind of tostada. ( I’ve only known about bean.) Restaurant busy when we left. I guess being from NM leaves me with high standards for food and this wasn’t it.More

Maybe it's just me, but a restaurant attached to a gas station just doesn't seem right. But, we've heard good feedback about the food and figured we would give it a try. Being new to the area, we're looking for decent food without having to...go "down the hill". This was some of the better Mexican food we've had in the area. Very good! Service was rather slow, but that might be because we were there at a non-rush hour time. We will be back!More

We ordered take-out and were told it would take 15-20 minutes. We waited for over an hour past that to get cold, soggy food. I ordered and paid for a chicken enchilada with mole sauce, but got a plain enchilada. The cook refused to give...the server mole sauce. I walked into the kitchen to talk to the cook, and the kitchen was dirty and greasy. It looked like there was rat poisoning on the floor.More

We have been going to CV ever since it opened, and always enjoyed the dining experience. Not this time. They were seriously understaffed causing long wait times, and the food was very disappointing. My wife ordered the avocado tostadas, which was to include rice and...beans, but she was served just one plain tostada at $8! The total bill was just under $40, way overpriced. We won't be back.More
