We were at Vail for a week and we came here twice. The Pimento Cheese appy is worth revisiting! It is absolutely the best offering! The spicy cheese and cider jam play perfectly. So delectable! I had the Rocky Mtn Trout one night and the Seafood Dirty Rice the other. I would say the Dirty rice is the better entree.... More

My only complaint with Mountain Standard is that it's too hard to get a table! Which should tell you something. I almost hate to write a good review because it will get HARDER to get in. Plus it's not set up well for large groups - go with no more than 4-6 people in order to realistically get a table.... More

Nice urban feel to place. Seasonal menu that changes. Kids menu available. Appetizers -fried octopus, pork belly, bone marrow and liver mousse to name a few. Bloody Mary's had a smoky almost BBQ flavor. Sandwiches came with thin French fries or onion rings. Rings were good sized with a paprika batter. Soups and salads available. Full bar. Desserts. Waiter attentive... More

The downstairs sister of Sweet Basil, excellent food. Ski down Riva Ridge and escape the madness at Two Elks and have a delicious lunch with table service at the same price without juggling trays and fighting for a table. Dinner is tops lovely atmosphere to compliment the delicious food. Try their Margaritas they are awesome

Gotta tell ya. This place is awesome. Try the shrimp and grits. Octopus equally great. The service is top notch. The hostess recognized me from the nite before ( fully booked, so we couldn't get a table) she sat us and ordered a shrimp and grits on the house!!!!!!! Seriously, who does that? I had mentioned how my wife had... More

Saturday...what a great meal while catching up with a high school/college (30 years). It was lunch time and we dashed off the mountain to the Mountain Standard to a wonderful selections of beers and lunch choices. I hadn't seen this crew for 30 years and to meet their kids it was priceless. The additional thing that is so special about... More

We had appetizers so we could try a little of everything and it was awesome! Highly recommend the biscuits, the carrot salad, shrimp and grits, pork belly and shishito peppers. Service was good.

We went for early dinner and just squeezed in. Very glad they found a table for us. The food was the best on our two week trip. The attention to detail in the cooking was tremendous. We had steak with bearnaise sauce which was so juicy and lamb chops with a sweet pepper accompaniment. We had an apple desert. Vail... More

From the creators of the legendary Sweet Basil in Vail Colorado, comes a fresh, innovative new restaurant. Aptly named Mountain Standard, this rustic and relaxed tavern aims to set a new standard in the Vail valley by using an ancient form of cooking. The majority of Mountain Standard’s menu is prepared via the most primal cooking method: over an open and live wood fire. The only restaurant in the valley to devote themselves to this age-old way of cooking, the food at this exciting new restaurant has rustic, bold and honest flavors, focusing on the purest ingredients in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond.Service, like the cuisine, has that perfect balance of providing a first class dining experience with a more casual vibe. There is no smoke and mirrors here – no fuss – just simple, honest, from the heart service and cooking. The beauty of the creek side location is mirrored by the high energy vibe of this dynamic restaurant. It is this energy, outstanding service, and hand crafted food that enables Mountain Standard to offer a truly unique dining experience, approachable and enjoyable to everyone.
