Dear travelgoddess17, Thank you very much for such a raving review! We are glad to hear we were able to create such a wonderful experience for you and hope you will stop by again soon as well. Kindly Danijela McGinley
Service and ambiance were fantastic. But it can’t make up for the prices for just mediocre food. Menu was limited but not surprising during Covid. Service was extremely quick. HUGE coffee cups!
Dear TheGirl1969, We appreciate your feedback and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed our service, ambiance and huge coffee cups. We hope you will join us again in the future. Sincerley Danijela McGinley
We had a lovely corner table where we could people watch before we ordered so we saw a number of menu options before we selected. Breakfast was delicious and the pastries were divine!
Dear Laurie R, Thank you for your wonderful review and we hope we will be seeing you again soon. Best Danijela McGinley
It is apparent that the people running the restaurant operation at the Sonnenalp are different than the people managing the hotel operation. As awful as the hotel was, that was how wonderful the restaurant was. We had a delicious breakfast and excellent service.
Overall I would say good quality is amazing and they give you a lot. But it is a bit to pricy in my opinion. For two people who got Belgian waffle with bacon and then my wife who got Belgian waffle with sausage and we...only drank water, the price was $62. I feel like with everything we got it should be around the $40 range before tip. Hostess - a grade of B. There was a long line and the person in front of us did not have reservations and room was already almost full because of Covid restrictions. He made a big deal about have to wait 10-15 min for a table so the hostess gave him a table without having to wait. The people in line behind him were upset because 4 families all had reservations for 9:15 on Saturday and now had to wait for tables because this Hostess gave a table away to someone who didn’t have reservations. What’s the point of reservations if you do this and make people frustrated upon entering establishment. Service - The table service was amazing. They were quick to take our order, quick to refill our drinks without even asking. Other waiters when they walked by even if they weren’t our table asked if we needed anything. They were really sweet and polite. They brought the check out without me having to ask for it which I like at a restaurant. Food - The food was amazing. I’ll attach pictures to this review of what we got. The Waffles were so fluffy and had really good flavor. The bacon was some of the best bacon I’ve ever had. My only complaint about the food is the price tag as the price should have been $10 cheaper per meal. I understand it’s Vail and people put a price tag on Vail but $62 should not be a breakfast meal when you can get dinner and a appetizer at a lot of places in Vail for two for that price with a lot more food. Atmosphere - I enjoyed the atmosphere. People were frustrated a little bit because of the hostess giving away that table to the guy who didn’t have a reservation. But once we sat down, it was really pleasant inside.More
I understand from previous guests that the buffet was beyond amazing but with the situation now they are doing a great job of delivering a wonderful menu, reception, friendly and helpful service with a smile and they always make you feel welcome. Love the eggs...benedict with avocado, crispy hashbrowns, an omelette station on weekends and the pastries are gorgeous, Mario and his team do an amazing job of cooking things up to meet your needs. You will be greeted by Lupe and the manager is Irenei who is so upbeat. A big thanks goes to the head of F&B you will see her working side by side with her team and I just adore her as all of the servers Jutta is so cute as well as every single person who works there. They shine!More
Dear Magictravelnow, As always it is a pleasure to have you with us and we hope seeing you back soon again! Thank you Kindly Danijela McGinley
First of all, they do not have the buffet right now because of Covid which I loved! I never have liked buffets. The glassed-in patio is wonderful. They will open the glass doors so you feel like you are eating outside. Every morning they brought...us a wonderful bowl of fruit to start with along with pastries. The service, food, and atmosphere are all top-notch. I have not had anything that wasn't wonderful.More
Dear lindawR301KA, Thank you for your wonderful review. It is great to hear you had such a wonderful experience at Ludwig's Restaurant and that the a la carte option is taken so well. I will pass on the Kudos to the team! Best Danijela McGinley
The buffet breakfast is outstanding. It is hard to even describe the offerings from fresh fruit, to pastries, to the omelet station. Even during this Covid time, when buffets are not an option, Ludwig's offered such a wonderful breakfast variety that all of our expectations...were exceeded.More
Dear Mary beth L, Thank you for such a wonderful review. We try our best to adapt to the current situation and are happy to hear you enjoyed our a la cart offerings. Hoping to welcoming you back soon for breakfast! Kindly Danijela McGinley
It wasn't the buffet Ludwigs used to be able to offer due to covid but that doesn't mean it wasn't fantastic. I am not a big buffet person because the food is never hot and specially made. So I was happy with the new process....Food was excellent!More
We were not impressed. It was really not much more than your standard hotel breakfast at exorbitant prices. One omelet with hash browns was $27. You can upgrade to include some bread and fruit for $38. The cheapest thing on the menu was oatmeal for...$16. The food tasted fine - very traditional breakfast food. Both of our potatoes were cold - which seems hard to accomplish given that the chef cooks everything right there in the middle of the dining room. We asked for buttered toast and got dry toast. When we asked for butter it came out hard as a rock and impossible to spread. Our waters sat empty the entire time. We had to get up at one point and search for water. But our coffee was constantly refilled without asking which is a pet peeve. The dining room is fancy in the traditional sense but the food is not.More
