We stumbled on this place hidden in the marina. Not fancy, but very cute with a great menu, fresh local sourced ingredients, full bar, some great local craft beers, outside deck and a lot of charm. The staff was super friendly and Abby herself came over to check on us. Really nice. It is easy to overlook when it sits... More

Went with our teenage granddaughters. Plenty of choices for everyone! The food was wonderful. You must have the clam chowder, awesome! Burgers are yummy...oh, and the onion rings, YES!!!

Essex is a picturesque river town and this lovely restaurant has a commanding view of the Connecticut River as it makes its final turn towards Long Island Sound. In the summer especially but anytime during the year you will find wonderful food and casual dining here and a very friendly (and hard working) wait staff. Abby is the head chef... More

We had an extremely large group but the staff handled us well. They were super friendly (7 of our 16 were children), they brought the drinks out quickly and breakfast soon followed. We did not feel rushed and they were great with the kids.

One block off the main street, on a hill above the shipyard, you'll find Abby's Place, where the views are terrific and the food is excellent. We had breakfast on the sunny deck and watched the birds above the marshlands around the cove and the river waters. Breakfasts are large. Corned beef hash came with eggs, toast and a fruit... More

We had just left the Essex Steam Train, and were looking for a casual place to have a late lunch. We went past a few high end restaurants, which we weren't dressed for, and when we were just about to leave, we drove past the marina and saw the sign for this restaurant. We decided to give it a try,... More

This lovely restaurant sits overlooking boats at anchor and at the dock and affords the only panoramic view of the section of the Connecticut River I consider the most beautiful. The fare is American and the preparation is beautifully done ranging from full breakfast meals to complete dinners. There is also a choice of Glutin free meals you don't see... More

We stopped here because the Black Seal had too long of a wait, Cute little place with outdoor seating, The service was good but slow...it wasn't very crowded and we had a wait quite a while for our lunch. The clam chowder was mostly potatoes....not what you would expect from a place on the water. The crab melt was good... More

Abby is the lovely chef/owner who aims to please and serves a tasty variety of house prepared dishes. The atmosphere is airy and casual, overlooking the shipyard with delightful little details like fresh flowers and bright colors. Service staff is polite and well trained.
