Busy, yet little waiting time Ben on a Friday night. Very lively bar scene though all tiny and cramped. Food: wide variety (on the verge of overwhelming trying to please everybody) of mostly proven standard bistro type dishes, with some European flair like veal stew with spaetzle or pork Milanese The calamari was nicely grilled rather than fried finished with... Came for dinner at 7 and fortunate in being able to be immediately seated. I had 2 appetizers in this seafood predominant restaurant. The grilled calamari on a bed of lettuce with delicious balsamic dressing was excellent. The evening special of Alaskan king crab salad was okay, could have been improved if less lemon as it was too sour. My... More

The grilled calamari is fantastic; we love everything on the french/american menu. Never had a bad meal here. Service is great. Atmosphere is intimate and lovely.

Excellent classic French cuisine, with a bistro like atmosphere. Pleasant service, and good wine list

Delicious from start to finish at the cozy, French bistro-like restaurant. Perfect spot with good friends on a cold winter night. Truffle mac and cheese, brussel sprouts with bacon, their version of a lobster roll, and a pile beignets with ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert. Can't wait to try other dishes off their menu. Bon appetit!

I like that it is a small place and the decoration. It gets crowded due to the bar so it is loud. I do not recommend it as a romantic place. The food is good, but expensive. They do not accept reservations.

We returned after a few years and were delighted to find Martel's has become again one of the finest French bistros in the area. For a couple years we felt the service had slipped with indifferent service and inconsistent kitchen. Last night was a treat! Every single dish won raves, particularly from our Parisian friends. Wine list continues to be... More

We have wanted to visit Martel since moving to CT 6 mo ago, but I had reservations. After reading a few review about rude staff unless you were a regular, I hesitated. I am so glad we decided to go last night. It was a beautiful evening. We arrived at 5 on a Saturday night. Seating is very cozy, what... More

Friendly staff and great vibe when you enter at the bar. Our server was knowledgeable of the great specials for the evening. Our choice of the specials was the right one.
