Have been to Max Fish several times, and it's pretty consistently good. Their Happy Hour is fantastic, with great prices, if you can get a seat there! Yes, it can be expensive, but it's very good quality seafood, and after all, you get what you pay for.

Brought a family member who mentioned that she had never been to Max Fish and had always wanted to go. We had not been there for a while, but based on previous visits we were sure that we all were in for a treat. This was not the Max Fish we remembered! Mistakes with our order that came with excuses... More

Always a good dinner here and very attentive service. If we have company in town this the place we take them. Love the lobster salad with local white wine. All food is fresh and atmosphere pleasant.

We all enjoyed our meals. I would say the drinks and salads are a little overpriced. The meals were reasonable and very well prepared. We ended up having one drink each and everyone had a salad and each couple split a dessert - the bill was $250 for 4 people, plus we left a $50 tip. Kind of a lot... More

For my money this is probably the best seafood restaurant in the greater Hartford area. Service is always top shelf and the quality and selection of dishes can't be beat.

Dinner for 1: $67. The quality of the dishes do not warrant the prices. The staff was great, atmosphere was lovely, and the raw fish was tasty. The octopus was overlooked, but the Asian calamari salad made up for it. Advice: stick to the raw bar and wine list.

I'm going to give the place that maybe it was an off night, I see all the other reviews are great about the place, but to be honest, our experience there was miserable. First problem we came there when it was some kind of National Clams or Oyster Day and the clams and oysters were a buck a piece and... More

Dear dlb264, I am sorry to hear that your experience at Max Fish was not up to par. You mentioned that you did have some sort of interaction with a manger here, at any point in time did you mention that there was an issue with either your service or food? I recommend the fried calamari: it was crisp and flavorful, perfectly cooked and dusted with homemade paprika - yum! The artisanal cheese plate tasted very fresh and included 5 distinct cheeses, and the bouillabaisse tasted fresh & delicious. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable, yet not overbearing. Highly recommended.

Delightful night out with my wife. Excellent table in the back corner, unhurried wait service and a nice ambiance . Appetizers: crab cake (a bit on the small size but excellent flavor and texture) 2 oysters (soft and delicate) and a bottle of New Zealand Saviougn Blanc. Main courses: Grilled Mahi Mahi (a touch over done but salvaged by the... More

All of the seafood I have had is very good. The service is what you would expect from a Max* restaurant. It is on the pricier side. One downside is the volume of the noise due to the subway-tiled walls and hard surfaces.
