Myself and a group of friend were looking for a quick bite and seen this cafe. We were all riding motorcycles (not a rowdy bunch just day trippers) so I went in to see about getting some seats. The cafe looked quite full which was...fine because takeaway was an option for us. When I enquired about this I was told there was no room in the cafe. When I asked about takeaway I was told there were no boxes. There were two lovely folk willing to give their seats up for me and another couple were about to leave too. I said we could sit in as there was now enough room. The person behind the counter then said we have bookings. The whole manner of the man behind the counter was very judgemental and not very accommodating. I asked a few of the patrons if they knew of any other places to eat and was pointed to another place where the service was perfect. Having known this island since I was a small boy. It saddens me that a once extremely welcoming place to passing trade was made to look very bad by this one little cafe. If I’m being brutally honest I think the person behind the counter seen motorcycle helmets and went back to a 1950s frame of mind where all bikers are savages of some kind. I’ll be back to Millport but this cafe is a no go area now. Do betterMore

Yes I remember you well and your complaint is we were full! No seats left! Not a bad complaint surely! But given that the people preparing to leave, who as you say could offer you their seats, was not their decision to make, as the...More

We had a small family gathering in the snug at the cafe……it was absolutely stunning and both looked amazing and tasted better. The attentiveness, quality and friendliness were second to none and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks very much Cindy Meikle-Groves Tom Meikle...xMore

We were on Millport for a weekend only but visited this lovely cafe three times. Superb light soup'n'sandwichl unch one day, late, full lunch the next and coffee and scones before leaving (best scones ever). Food was great and the welcome was warm. Dog friendly,...which is a must for us.More

I visited this cafe on Tuesday and it was absolutely lovely! Personally, I would definitely recommend the Scotch Broth and the Chicken, Mozzarella and Pesto Panini. Definitely a must-visit!

Felt safe with the covid measures in place. We had super cakes and the best scone I've ever had. My daughter in law who is a baker was well impressed. We had a warm welcome and will certainly visit the next time go to Millport.

Very rude service. We were refused to be served in the cafe because we didn’t have masks on. Even tho we provided a documents from the Deputy Chief Medical Officer Professor Marion Bain we were told that the aren’t going to serve us. A man...working in the cafe wanted to deeply discuss my and my partners medical conditions even tho by the Scottish Law it’s illegal to do so. Absolutely disgusted with the service! Highly do not recommend it!!!More

Lovely food and service. Staff were very accommodating and friendly considering we had two dogs with us. Even gave the dogs a treat each to make sure they were happy.

Whilst planning a trip to Cumbrae, I decided to look for somewhere to book for lunch for my partner, myself and three boys (16,14 and 10). I messaged the Round Island Cafe in Millport and a lovely lady got back to me saying, they didn't...usually reserve tables, but would do her best to reserve us a table at the requested time. We ended up having to wait longer than expected to get the ferry, so I messaged her back saying we would be along as soon as we could but not to worry about holding a table. We would be happy to wait or come back. The lady then replied back saying if I messaged her when I got on the ferry she could let me know how busy the cafe was and do her best to accommodate us. I cannot remember the last time I was shown this level of customer service. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the cafe would certainly be busy all day but this lady was prepared to go the extra step and I really noticed. A table became available within five minutes of us arriving and the food was delicious. My partner and I shared the ploughman's deli board and it was amazing. The selection of meat, cheese and accomplishments offered was outstanding and the bread was so fresh. Next time we're back in Cumbrae I know exactly where I will be going for lunch and what I'll order. Thank you so much. We will be back xxMore
