Ripley, Surrey. A small, if you blink you are through village directly off the A3 near Woking. Yet it has several quality restaurants, several cafes, a hotel, B&B, good pubs and a small supermarket…. And here we were just 20 minutes from home in this...starred restaurant for Saturday lunch, a 7 course tasting one of course! Our cab dropped us off outside the lovely feont door and Iain opened the door as we were the first customer entering. Upstairs to the bar for a glass of Champagne Gosset and from here you could see the quite substantial garden the property has, nice I would imagine in the summer for drinks before or after a meal. Opting for the 7 course tasting we also went for the wine pairings which were generous in nature, you certainly would not be driving anywhere. The individual courses were delighful, stand out for me was the Parmesan cappuccino which of course wasn’t a coffee at all but was served to look like one. That and the venison but each course was thoroughly lovely and worthy of the appointed star. We also went with the British cheeses as an extra course after discussing the merits of our islands cheese offerings and it did not disappoint. So, the food was worthy but so also the staff. Iain, the consummate host along with Jez who took care of the wine and the lovely lady who had arrived back from Canada this year who has served the pre-lunch bubbles and some of the courses. Basically we had a great time and surely will returnMore

Sadly there is very little positive we can say about our "7" course dinner Certainly not Michelin star quality food, exceptionally slow service, the cheese scone and brioche needed to make one feel they had actually eaten as on our night portion (we know it...was a tasting menu) were tiny. We have visited many Michelin starred restaurants, this is one we can neither recommend and one we would not return to, not worth £500 for "dinner" for 3 .More

Went here for my husband's birthday. Service was exceptional from start to finish. Had the five course tasting menu which was delicious. The meal was perfectly paced so you didn't feel rushed. We didn't go for the pairing as one of us was driving but...ordered a couple of glasses of wine which were excellent. Its obvious why they have a Michelin star and would not hesitate to return or recommend. Worth every penny.More

Our second visit and this time with our son. Once again, the service and reception were impeccable. The host is amazing as are all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and our son even had a tailored menu. The food is consistently good and...I must commend the Wagyu beef that we had. It literally evaporated in one’s mouth. The wine pairing was spot on and really complemented every dish. A special nod to the sommelier for his extensive knowledge of his cellar. If you have never been then I highly suggest that you do. Deserves two stars in one’s opinion.More

We have been lucky enough to eat in two separate Michelin Star restaurants this week. Our first was in London owned by the well known Chef famous for his colourful use of language just off the Kings Road Chelsea. We had a lovely evening there...and compliments to the establishment. Our second meal was at The Clock House ,Ripley and in all honesty our experience bettered the well known London restaurant. From the moment we walked in we felt so welcome and the service from the staff was outstanding. We had the taster menu , which we thought was excellent value considering the high quality of the food. We asked for “wine pairing” and this was excellent too with all the wines very well explained and exactly complementing the gorgeous food that we ate. The “ambience” was perfect , the food delicious. Thank you so much for a special evening and we will definitely be back to visit all of you soon. well done to the front of house staff and of course the whole of the kitchen team for providing us with such culinary delights. Thank you so much Len,Polly and LouisMore

We celebrated my birthday at the Clock House on Friday with family, and the whole experience was amazing. Each course of the dinner menu was elegantly presented and tasted superb. The service from the moment we arrived was excellent. We will definitely return.

I visited this restaurant with my husband for a long overdue dinner out. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed our pre dinner drinks in the beautiful garden. Service was impeccable and perfectly timed without being overly fussy. The food was sublime. I loved...the fact that the tasting menu comprised of dishes that I would not necessarily have chosen but having tasted them, found them to be delicious. We chose the five dishes tasting menu and felt the portion sizes and amount of food were just right for us. Someone with a bigger appetite might want to go with the seven dish option. Every single plate of food that was put in front of us was outstanding. Particularly delicious was the Granny Smith pre dessert which was silky smooth with sharp crunchy morsels of cold apple nestled in the middle. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and cannot wait to return.More

From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and relaxed. The bar overlooks the garden which is stunning. The service was spot on - attentive and yet discreet and the food was just amazing at every course. The presentation and the flavours were perfect. We...have already booked for our next visit.More

I had great expectations, hence the disappointment. Staff was great, no complaints. They were very courteous and really accommodating. However, the food was not impressive at all. We started really well and I was really happy with the starter. Midway our tasting menu, we were...served two really disappointing mains, which was a total let down. I have eaten in numerous michelin starred reasturant, but this one started making me question this rating system. There are restaurants (and pubs!) in Woking without a michelin star, which serve better food (and at much reasonable prices) . Sorry to say, but I left angry and disappointed. I attach pictures as a proof that I have actually had lunch at this place.More

We had the most fabulous time at The Clock House. From the off, the staff were chatty and friendly, making it a relaxed dining experience. We had a few special dietary requests as my wife is pregnant and the restaurant went above and beyond to...create a few special dishes to just the same high standard as the main tasting menu. The menu has been planned to perfection - we were just the right level of full at the end, having been taken on a wonderful journey of flavours and colours. Special thanks to Iain and Rennato for being such fantastic hosts - they really made the night even more special. Rennato indulged us with some additional explanations about the process for making the dishes which we loved, and Iain made us laugh a lot. We can't wait to come back and would highly recommend.More

Definitely not the sort of place you would be able to or would want to take a dog. (I'm dog owner too).

We went on a Saturday night and had the degustation menu (so yes it was set) but I'm pretty sure there was an a la carte menu too. Maybe give them a call.
