Visited with good friends and had requested a quiet table. Had a lovely table on the left near the window as you enter the restaurant. Very comfortable and able to chat. The food was absolutely delicious as usual. We are never disappointed with appetizers, entrées or desserts. Service was impeccable. Will be returning.

I've never had a bad meal or a bad experience here. It is pricey and a bit formal - best for special occasions. But the service is impecable and the ambiance is quiet and civilized. The food is consistently delicious.

From the forced prix fixe ($89 per person, three courses, tip added later for a total of about $107 before drinks, extras etc per person), to the disdainful, mechanical but competent service, to the uninspired and young wine list (but with a wide range of prices) and watery, poorly mixed bar drinks, this may be the best place in New... Ate in a private dining room but got to talk through the main restaurant and experience the ambience. Food was excellent - the halibut really gently cooked. Staff were amazing!

I have visited the Union League Café on several occasions, and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is never less than superb, and the service - although impeccable - never stuffy. It remains a special occasion place for us, as it is relatively pricey, but well worth it.

Simply perfect, I go to many restaurants on a weekly basis due to my work and this one has an easy 5 stars. This place in this historic building, right next to Yale, has top of the range service, quality food extremely well cook, best seafood ever too. Excellent wine list, hardly anything mainstream. I highly recommend this place.

We went to this high end french restaurant again to give it another chance after a disappointing experience a year ago. The location of Union League is amazing - a Victorian style room with stained glass windows. Ambiance is top notch. Unfortunately the food is mixed and the service poor. Our mussel appetizers were excellent while my wife's salmon looked... More

We had a lovely dinner here and the review say it all. The food is excellent, service was outstanding - especially for New Haven. It is about the best you can get outside of major cities like New York and Boston. Expensive, but worth it compared to the many "nice restaurants" in the area that charge nearly as much and... More

In the past we have been very critical of the quality of service of at Union League but our dinner last night was extraordinary. We had Sherwin as our primary waiter and he was exceptional. While we have always thought the quality of food here was great, the poor service has always left us hesitant to come back more regularly.... More

The food is impeccable, and the specials can be inspired. The vegetables are cooked but crisp, the main dishes (a pasta for me, fish for my wife) were excellent. The sauces, gravies, salad dressings and other concoctions are delicate but flavorful, with lots of interesting combinations to tempt. The service is very attentive without being obsequious or snooty. They get... More
