Can't believe the bad review about the fish pie. I, and two friends who often join me for lunch there, regularly order the fish pie when we order the table. The vegetables are plentiful, varied and beautifully cooked. Have selected many other items from the...More

Not been here for a long time - good menu, friendly service, great range of puddings!😋. Food prices were topside I felt, although quality was "good". Wine lust was "ok"... will certainly return.

The fish pie had no salmon as stated on the menu. Small hard prawns were found instead of the advertised king prawns etc. dissapointed, left feeling hungry as vegetable portion was extremely mean. Maybe just picked a bad day i will never know.More

We had a family lunch here. The portions are large, even for salads, so it's not a "light bite" sort of place. Jacket potato was good, scampi and fish pie ditto. Sweet potato chips were really good. Salads come with dressings on the side (i.e....More

Description
The picturesque village of Car Colston has 29 acres of village greens and is believed to be the largest rural common in England. The building of The Royal Oak is about two hundred years old and is thought by some to have been a hosiery factory hence the rather unusual vaulted brick ceiling in the bar which certainly would have carried the weight of the appropriate textiles machinery above.Richard & Vicky are members of the British Institute of Innkeeping. With Vicky offering her delicious culinary delights from the kitchen & Richard behind the bar with his fantastic tasting Cask Marque approved traditional real ales you are sure of a warm welcome and enjoyable experience but look out for the reported ghost of a Roman Centurion roaming the building.
