I had a great experience at Mel's. Going on a Friday night, over the dinner hour, I expected a wait. There was quite a crowd but the wait was surprisingly not bad. The atmosphere could be described as a "blast from the past". The service was great, especially with how busy they were. The food was delicious. I had the... More

A recent evening meal with friends who dine here often ended better than it began. My order of a chicken salad wrap was not originally brought out by our server as she said it didn't look "quite like chicken salad". However, the same wrap returned a few minutes later as she said she was told by the kitchen it was... More

We have been here twice for breakfast. The theme in this local chain restaurant is 1950's diner and the Cape Coral location tends to attract the older set and can be tough to get into on weekend mornings so come early. Parking can also be difficult here on the weekends. Although the '50's theme is fun, the food is pretty... More

We went to Mel's Diner for dinner for the first time and it was a nice experience. There was a nice crowd, the hostess was friendly and our table was clean, the music that was playing was perfect for us, 50s and 60s, The exterior was reminiscent of an old time diner the interior was more modern. The food was... More

First, it's a friendly place with great service. Yes, there are lines to get in...be prepared to wait. Mel's is an exceptionally clean restaurant. When the wait staff and hosts aren't running from table to table, they are constantly vacuuming, washing doors and windows or refilling your beverages. There is an extensive menu from blue plate specials to surf not... More

Mel's is consistent, inexpensive and has a large variety of diner-style offerings on the menu. This is why it is extremely crowded at the beginning of the dinner hours. Arrive between 5 and 7 and you will likely have to wait for a table (though the counter is often open and is great fun for watching food prep). After 7:30... More

Hubby and I like going to Mel's mostly for breakfasts and lunches. We also enjoy bringing out-of town company, like our children and grandchildren, when they come to visit because it is a fun place for children. The diner atmosphere and memorabilia are fun. The staff is very friendly and accommodating too.

First visit to this Florida chain diner. Exterior architecture pure 1950's diner, but inside welcome to a 2010 homogenized chain restaurant. The food was good...breakfast fare for me...but nothing special or diner-ish.

Hubby and I need to get our "Mel's" fix every so often. He's the fish 'n chips guy (that's the only thing he orders). I joined him this time. I got a baked potato instead of French fries. Very delicious! Very good service too from Korey!
