This restaurant is a reliable constant for folks in our area. Excellent seafood and a fair non seafood offering. It is a casual pub atmosphere so anyone will feel welcome. Always busy and for a good reason.

We camped at nearby Suwannee River State Park three years ago and ate here, and then camped there again this past week. We wondered if that great restaurant/bar was still open and were happy to see it was. I ordered the fish special that gave me a plate with a huge piece of swai fish that was superbly cooked and... Love their shrimp sandwich. The grilled vegetables are good and a great change from french fries. Our first choice for lunch in live oak.

Usually very crowded & you have to ask for simple things twice. Like can I please have my silverware with my salad or maybe the salad dressing? Ok, now how about that drink after 10mins? (lol) I hate having to ask twice. Not out of frustration, (well maybe a lil, but I realize they work hard. So hard in fact... More

The Brown Lantern seems to be the people's choice in Live Oak. Funky decor, good service & pretty good food. "Pretty good," in this case, is better than decent and short of outstanding. The telling comment: We'd likely find our way back here if we pass this way again.

The Brown Lantern is located next door to the Elks Lodge of which we are members. Sometimes when we go to the Lodge but the kitchen isn't open, we'll walk over here and grab a quick bite to eat.

We came here expecting some really good food. Well not much, the Supreme Nachos were Doritos with cheese, beef I think not sure, huge slices of tomatoes, no salsa of any kind had to ask for that. All lukewarm except for ice cold salsa. All piled high with so much shredded lettuce on top you couldn't eat it with out... More

We came here around 8:30 on a Thursday evening and found the place packed. It is a big restaurant and when you see one that busy, that's a good sign. One of the few tables available was next to a screaming baby so we opted to sit at the small bar at the entrance. It turned out that the owner... More

This is one busy place! It was very noisy the first time my friend and I went there. We had to wait a very long time for our food. So long that we finally asked the server to bring bread, which she said she would do. After another 20 minutes, she appeared with our meals instead. The total wait time... More

Locally, this is a regular eating place. The service was attentive. The portions were good sized. Unfortunately, the fried fish and chicken seemed more like frozen and bagged versus freshly prepared whether or not they were.
