A very cute, relaxing, basic, but elegant restaurant that serves a very extensive variety of Mexican and Central American specialties. They use high quality, fresh ingredients which shows in the flavors. The kitchen is out in the open and is fun to watch the prepping and cooking. The staff and management are very friendly, attentive and courteous. Prices are adequate... More

After seeing all of the reviews, finally came in to see what the fuss was all about. Parking was challenging, but we waited it out. Carmen greeted us like we were regulars. The papusa were great...also steak fajitas. The Margarita was strong...it was a great lunch!

Had the chorizo and steak tacos. Perfect size comes with three. Not too much food so we didn't leave feeling stuffed, but quite satisfied. Loved the rice and beans: white rice with corn, green peas and carrots on it. Food came quick and service was friendly. Would highly recommend.

We chose El Guanaco for its proximity to our hotel and excellent reviews. It is a very unassuming exterior and the inside is tight but elegant. Friendly service and our waitress answered all of our questions. The El Salvadorian influence intrigued us as the menu had a few extras. I convinced my wife to ditch her go to chimichangas and... I've visited this restaurant several times in order to work my way through the menu before writing this review. I was hoping to find some outstanding dishes. Bottomline, is that this restaurant beats its competition in Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park. Service starts with complimentary chips and salsa. Although not pureed, the salsa is not chunky and it's not a... More

I first tried this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend over a year ago. Since then, I go at least 2-3 times per month. Great food and friendly staff. My top picks are the enchiladas, burrito, and grilled steak with onions. Love their fried green plantains.

Love eating here. The food is great, the price is right, and the service is friendly and good. We go there for lunch and dinner. Doesn't matter what you order, because it is all good.

We stopped here for lunch after a recommendation from a shop owner in the area. Boy, are we glad we did! This is a small restaurant in a small building. The food was amazing! We ordered way too much since we wanted to try everything! We had tacos and enchiladas which were delicious! The pupusas were awesome! We tried the... More

Arrived here at 2PM which was perfect, missing the lunch crowd. This is a very small restaurant in Oakland Park. Parking available right in front. We started off with the queso fundido with chips. Yummy and gooey like a good queso fundido. I ordered the combo plate which includes 1 taco, 1 tostada, and 1 enchilada de queso served with... More
