This restaurant used to be very nice with good service from the ownership and good food. Since they sold the restaurant, the lady hates owning it and I heard her say to another customer that she wanted out of the business and that she hated...it, and she had only owned it for three or four months at the time. She clearly did not understand how to run a restaurant or treat customers. I never went back after she treated me badly because I had to send back some pastrami sandwich that was literally like leather. She apparently was mad that she had to give me a new lunch. I never went back after that. I used to get the chicken souvlaki. Also the food had no eye appeal. They did not like to garnish for color, you know a bit of parsley or a pickle. I always had to ask for a pickle.More

Stopped about 8 weeks ago and the place was dark--thought or hoped they were vacationing or had to take care of a problem. Stopped yesterday and discovered they have CLOSED for good!! We are disappointed as it was a local neighborhood favorite. This is another...example of what inflation and lack of affordable labor does to small businesses especially family owned "Mom and Pops"!!!!More

Stopped last night (Friday) about 6:45 PM and the place was closed!! On a Friday night!!!! Unfortunately it appears they may have shut down and that would be extremely disappointing. As you can see we were regulars and we loved the place--they provided a closer...alternative to Tarpon springs Sponge Docks and always served up authentic tasty Greek dishes at very reasonable prices. I hope that I am wrong and the closure is temporary.More

This is one of our favorite neighborhood eateries but last night they had a few hiccups! Out of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc by the bottle (only had several glasses left in an open bottle) and the gyro platter was a bit thin on the gyro!...Both forgivable but hope it won't be repeated.More

Love this place--flavorful Greek food, large portions, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Oh and they carry Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc and only charge $28 for the bottle served chilled. What else could one ask for!!

You can always depend on generous portions of flavorful Greek food; friendly attentive service; and very reasonable prices which make the Marathon one of our favorite neighborhood eateries. Last night was no different.

Stopped in last night for a quick bite and was totally satisfied as usual. Gyro platters were tasty, had fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and onion on pita and served with tzatziki sauce. Accompanied by sizable greek salad with potato salad. Wife had the lemon soup which...wasn't as good as the past. Nice bottle of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect accompaniment and priced at $28 was a good deal. Always pleased with our meals at the Marathon and that's why we keep returning monthly.More

Two of us dined last evening. Both had the gyro platter with roast potatoes. One came with lemon chicken soup while the other had a sizeable Greek salad. Everything was freshly made, nicely seasoned, large in portion size and quite tasty. Would have liked a...little more gyro but what was provided was adequate. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Restaurant was neat, clean and attractive. Prices have increased since our last visit but were very reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. They have outdoor seating as well but it is way too hot and muggy this time of year. We will return as it is more convenient than Tarpon Springs when we crave Greek food.More

We stopped for lunch based on a referral. We entered the restaurant about 11:30AM. There was a table of 7 patrons when we entered. We waited over 5 minutes for initial service. We ordered about 11:40AM. My husband ordered the hot turkey sandwich with mashed...potatoes. After another 30 minutes food started coming from kitchen for the table of 7 people. The food was not served at one time. A lag of 10 minutes before all 7 people were served. We were still waiting. Finally the waitress comes to our table and tells us the kitchen had no mashed potatoes. We should have left then. Another 15 minutes our food was served.More

We have eaten here occasionally for the last 8 years. We should come more often. Menu is Greek, of course. Service is friendly, but professional. The food is as good as it gets in the greater Tarpon Springs area, which is to say pretty good....Pricing is probably a little low for the experience. Tucked kind of behind a shopping center at the corner of Nebraska and Rt. 19, this is certainly worth a visit.More

No only a great Greek restaurant, an extensive menu assures everyone will be pleased. Lamb dishes are tender and delicious, but also their pasta dishes deserve just as much acclaim. Love sitting outside on their limited seating front porch area with our little doggie. Very...family oriented. I always get the flaming cheese appetizer ... OMPA!More

After a meeting in the same plaza, we had lunch at the Marathon Grille. We ordered Greek Chicken Egg Lemon Soup, a Gyro Sandwich, and an order of Spanakopita Pie (Spinach, Feta Cheese, and Herbs Baked in Phyllo Dough). Everything was very good; my wife...especially loved the soup. The service was friendly, and the prices are reasonable. They seemed to attract a crowd for lunch.More

We ate one of our best vacation dinners at this local gem. Waitstaff are long timers, customers are loyal, and we know why. The chicken rice lemon soup (I forget the Greek name) was our absolute favorite. Meals come with soup or salad, so try...one of each. Greek salad was so divine! Waitress Jane recommended the Chicken Parmegiani and she was spot on. Best I’ve ever had. The greek combo platter was also a hit. The lamb shank well presented with the most delicious lemon roasted potatoes. Looking for a great meal that won’t break the bank? Marathon Grille is a fine option.More

I have been to Marathon Grill many times over the years. Both food and service are good. The servers are always friendly and efficient. Prices are ok. They do not have a happy hour, so if you have a couple of glasses of wine with...dinner, your bar bill will at least equal your food bill. So if you are on a budget, might want to watch that.More

Phenomenal lemon rice soup! Best I EVER had!! It is like crack - can't get enough! I have had lemon rice soup everywhere, and this is the BEST!! Our waitress was Jane. She became my best friend in about 5 minutes - or at least...it felt that way. My hubby had the Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie) and he loved it. I always order water to drink, but Jane said try the raspberry tea. She was right - outstanding. If your looking for fancy - this is not your place. Upscale - nope Simply GREAT down home cooking. Since I found this place (last week) been there twice.More
