We like patronizing the small, family run businesses that locals know are the best places to eat. This place was well worth the trip and we'll certainly be back. We were in the mood for seafood and were told about Gene's Oyster Bar. We found it easily and went inside this small business to find a real treat. Our shucker... More

When in Panama City you get better food and conversation when you eat with the locals. Gene's is that kind of place. I learned about this place from a friend that used to live in town and I'm so glad he steered me to Gene's! Oysters are available from a 1/2 dozen to a 60 lbs. bag. The loaded oysters... More

When you step into Gene's, you experience genuine 1960's atmosphere and hospitality. This place is great. The four of us tried raw, fried, broiled and stewed oysters. They were fresh, shucked ice cold in front of us, and served directly to us. Even fried and broiled oysters were chucked fresh and presented to us for inspection before preparation. All of... More

Quaint, small amazing oyster bar shucking your oysters while you wait. Very, very casual but great service across the counter. Oysters really fresh and prepared how you like. Also other sea food platters but when we were there everyone was eating oysters. No parking problem once you find it.

undoubtedly the best oysters I have ever had, and we are from the Chesapeake Bay region. Oysters were tablespoon size and plump. Shuckers were personal, owner very proud of her business.

Great oyster bar. I had read the reviews and knew I wanted to try a little bit of everything. We sat down at the counter where we were asked if we had ever been, to which I replied no. The gentleman got us a menu (which has tons of items) and asked if we liked oysters. We got half a... More

I'm a local. I know all the oyster houses. Gene's is the best. Hands down! It is the real deal. No touristy crap or hype. Just great oysters and seafood. Don't let the few extra minutes dissuade your trip.
