On the last night of our vacation I wanted to take my wife to some place special. I found La Cocina International Restaurant, in St Augustine Beach. We made reservations and were promptly seated upon our arrival. We started off with Mussels as an appetizer...and then went for the Crab Stuffed Grouper. My taste buds were in heaven, all the food was delicious and the presentation, pleasing to the eye. We then shared the Pineapple Crepe for dessert. The food, service, ambiance, everything was excellent for our last dinner at the beach. Connie, our server, was a gem.More

My husband and I made reservations here for my birthday dinner while we were staying in the area. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is very classy. I had read that the lobster bisque was good so I started my meal with that. It was...creamy and delicious, just a little too salty for my taste. The garnish seemed to be roasted pieces of grass, decorative, but not very edible. My main course was the rack of lamb. The gravy/reduction was very tasty with hints of mint (a must for lamb). My husband decided to stick with salad and appetizers. His Asian pear salad with blue cheese crumbles and vinaigrette dressing was proclaimed one of the best salads he had ever enjoyed. Next was the baked Brie, served in a puffed pastry with a cranberry sauce garnish and toast crisps. Absolutely delicious, and so big it could have served four people as an appetizer. We actually took some of this home. The escargot in a chipotle butter were very tender and tasty and finally the mussels were served in a mildly spicy sauce that was nicely sopped up with bread. My husband declared it was one of the best meals he has ever had.More

The Octopus is the best I have ever had, and it is huge cooked to perfection. Loved the flavor of the salmon shrimp ceviche. The ginger took it to another level. And the Toscana salad was perfect. Best restaurant in Saint Augustine for Spaniard food....Love the wine list too. My boyfriend and I had an amazing time. Not to mention, the bread is superb.More

Excellent, speedy service. Social distancing of tables. Clean. Masks worn by servers, but no gloves. Cooks don’t wear masks. Each table was served warm bread and delicious garlic-infused butter. Lobster Bisque Cup $6.00 - Good, not great. Not velvety smooth like in Newport, RI Sweet...Plantain Carpaccio $14.00 - Life changing! Amazing! Sweet plantains topped with gorgonzola figs, and chimichurri Seafood Cazuela $33.00 - Sweet, full of seafood, excellent shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, scallops, and green peas in homemade tomato coconut broth over arroz con coco. They pour the sauce at the table. Crab Stuffed Grouper $28.00 - Good flavors. Crab was good, but grouper was dry Crab mix stuffed black grouper filet over green chile, mashed potatoes, citrus carrot & ginger broth, artichoke and leek puree, and haricot vertMore

Dinner for 4, we all had a variety of choices, High points, the Octopus was fantastic, the tenderloin was prepared very nicely , Ravioli was delicious . Service was 1st rate. Where they could improve, Charcuterie board was not inspiring, needs improving, and the wine...choices are meager ( but bring your own and pay the $15.00 corkage fee... worth it). Yet all in all , the pace was nice and relaxed ( hard to find these days), as mentioned service was very good and personable.and other than the Charcuterie board ( ok but lacking) all was top notch. and if you've read my other reviews, 5 stars is not easily forthcoming.More

Stayed in an Air B&B close to this restaurant. It is attached to a hotel. The ambiance was quiet and intimate. The service was friendly and attentive. Food was top notch, as good as I've had in major metro area restaurants at half the price....A great break from the bar food restaurants that proliferate St. Augustine Beach.More

The ambience here is awful. The entire dining area is stone, nothing soft to absorb noise. Consequently, you can hear everyone shouting throughout. Very hard to hold a quiet, intimate conversation with your table-mate. Service was good but rushed. Meal in under 55 minutes--hardly leisurely....The bisque was very good if a trifle salty. The brie was pretty good. The lamb was ok if undercooked. Quinoa was terrible; nobody should ever serve that as a side. The duck was vastly undercooked and had to be redone. Asked for it medium rare, and it came out still purple in the center. Was better after re-fire. Overall the food was ok, not great. However the price for 2 appetizers and 2 mains and 1 bottle of wine was $145. If the ambience were better maybe the meal would have been enjoyed more, but the noise in the small place was very distracting. 6 out of 10, at the most.More

We walked to this restaurant from our hotel, not realizing it was kind of upscale. We felt underdressed although they didn’t make us feel that way. As our meal progressed, more people came in dressed casual like us. The food is expensive, but it was...well prepared and the portions were huge. We both had shrimp pasta. They serve hot bread before the meal and it was delicious. We left very full.More

If you’re looking for a Bar on St. Augustine Beach, Sunset Grille is a good bar. If you travel into downtown, you will find a couple of great spots like Casa Maya on Hypolita. The restaurant is very good, but the bartender... More
