Each time we visit Sanibel (several times a year) - we go to this restaurant. Each time we are never disappointed. The food is consistent; service is professional and helpful; great wine selections; the antipasto is a must. If seated next to the kitchen, ask to be moved as it can get quite busy.

Really enjoyed this traditional Italian restaurant- felt like we were in Italy. Great food, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere. Limoncello mascarpone cake was the best!

Quite frankly we had a little trouble finding the restaurant, pulled into a empty parking lot, not the most presentable outside (clean but old). Decided we would go in and try. Wow, were we happy we did! This is a hidden Gem, kitchen fully visible upon entry, super clean and the amazing aroma of fresh Italian sauce emanating. Truly a... More

We went there recently for a special occasion. My daughter and I SHARED a small Caesar salad and a simple pasta a la vodka, and my husband and son both had the same pasta Amatriciana. (So 3 pasta dishes in total. While the vodka pasta was very good, the other pasta dish was practically inedible. My husband started with the... More

The food was so delicious that I can still taste it and smell it. Joe our waiter was so sweet and attentive. We order the pappardelle in bolognese sauce and the short rib. The short rib was really outstanding. Yes it was pricey but it was worth it in my opinion. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Il Tesoro is off the beaten path, but on Sanibel Island that means nothing as everything is within minutes. This restaurant is worth finding. Of all the Italian I have eaten in my 61 years, their red sauce was the best. Amazing flavor. Both of our meals were delicious and plentiful. The wine list is small but adequate. One of... More

Seriously, il TESORO is good quality food on the island. We first ate here around 2007 when it first opened. It's off season, there were 3 tables of couples yet food and service was great. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the veal Osso buco. Both excellent. We had a caprese and faggotini, which was an... More

Extremely disappointing! Pescatore Rissoto (two meals) were both ruined by the inclusion of rancid lobster tails. They were mushy and smelled like ammonia. Totally inedible. Manager never understood that both dishes were compromised and only brought one replacement after blaming the new cook for his technique. Just as well since the replacement was equally unfit for human consumption. They reduced... More

I sincerely hope the owner reads this honest review. Last night there were only a few tables occupied as it is the off season on Sanibel. This place is overpriced and the food is overall decent but not outstanding. I ordered the polenta with mushrooms and it arrived not as I expected, and rather unappetizing on the plate. Our waiter... We found the atmosphere to be pleasant, the service very good and the food delicious with sizable portions. Will return on future visits.
