We stopped by this place after spending 2 hrs. at Ding Darling in the hot humid sun to cool off. We ordered a couple of appetizers and some of the many tropical drinks they have on their menu. They were some of the best drinks we had the whole trip!!! Only thing that was missing was some Jimmy Buffett music... More

Ate here our first night in sanibel. Food and drinks were delicious, staff attentive, and right in town! When we come back we will definitely continue to make this our first stop! Recommended!

This Caribbean theme restaurant is low key, but is understandably ranked as one of the top ten (10) eateries on Sanibel Island. It is inspired by 20+ novels authored by Randy Wayne White whose main character was Doc Ford. My husband and I had the Sanibel Island Salad with Mahi and it was delicious. Our personalized drinks were blended perfectly... More

We visited Doc Fords last year, the food was very disappointing, not the food and atmosphere from rabbit road. We tried again this year same results, four different meals not one hit.

This place came highly recommended by other resort goers. I'm SO glad I listened for once! First, it's a little pricey but so worth it! There's enough food for 2 days. Every decent place to eat within Sanibel and Captiva is pricey and a lot of them aren't so great or fresh. I was so blown away by our first... More

Trendy "in" restaurant delivers with interesting menu but pricey. The Yucatán shrimp appetizer was amazing and totally worth ordering.

I was turned on to the Doc Ford novels by Randy Wayne White by a dear friend 15 years ago, and when vacationing in Captiva, we always made it a must do to eat at the restaurant owned partially by the author. The food is very good to excellent, a tasty fusion of South American and island food, lots of... More

Our family, friends and I have been coming here for years. LOVE the new location. So glad that the menu and hospitality didn't change. This is easily our favorite restaurant on the island.

If you like shrimp and just a touch of heat you must get the Yucatán shrimp. We come over to Sanibel every year in May and always spend our first night at Doc Fords for the Yucatan shrimp. Steamed peel & eat shrimp in the most delicious sauce ever! Butter, chili, lime, cilantro & garlic. And it's served with a... More
