During the pandemic, masks were required, for staff and patrons, but social distancing was more relaxed this trip. Today was our third visit, and it was the best one yet. Robby was a delightful waiter. He was attentive, efficient, and very charming. He told us about the specials, which were tempting at $5 each (avocado burger sounded delicious), but we had our BOGO free coupon from one of those shopper things you get in the mail. As Robby suggested, we got something we could NOT make at home. Of course, we could not make 50% of what is on the menu. But that’s another story.
Girlfriend order the chicken and Belgian waffles. I got the chicken and cheese grits. So much food! And it was mouthwateringly divine. I love grits, and the cheese grits were so good. I also like fried chicken, and this chicken was moist and tender. We each needed a box for leftovers, and we each took half home, feeling full and satisfied. What truly amazed me was how good my leftovers tasted tonight - just as good as fresh! This was the second time for leftovers. The first time we ate here, I had a hamburger wrap & tater tots. I took half home, and both were good as leftovers, but not as good as fresh. I don’t remember what I had the 2nd time. I only remember that I ate ever bite, it was a Wednesday special (banana nut bread French toast?) and it was decadently delicious!
We had two different wait staff before who were also marvelous. We are looking forward to eating her again for our monthly lunch get togethers. It has become our favorite restaurant for good, inexpensive, plentiful entrees with exemplary staff, and a relaxing atmosphere to savor our meals and enjoy each other’s company.

Had breakfast at Johnny Grits while visiting the area. The Florentine Eggs Benedict was beautifully presented and very tasty. The French Toast was nothing out of the ordinary.
A fruit garnish would have been nice.
The restaurant was clean. Tables were covered with paper and changed with each new sitting. The personnel were friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable.

We enjoyed 3 different meals, but all were delicious. I am a grit snob, and these grits were absolutely delicious. Our party also enjoyed french toast, (not too sweet), and a breakfast bowl, while I had a cup of delicious grits and a side of crispy bacon. We sat outside, had great service, and really good prices.

Breakfast at 9 am on a Thursday. Easy access, plenty of parking. Very nice touch is they greet you by opening the door for you. When we arrived we were the first and only ones in and by the time we left they were busy.
Service was friendly. Lots of stuff on the menu. I we ordered the breakfast quesadilla as an appetizer and I ordered shrimp and grits as my main course. Everything up to this point was good, and then....
Food delivery took WAY too long. We watched at least 3 parties that came in after us get food served before us. One party that came in after us was served, finished, and cleaned up before we got our food. It was a major service failure.
When the food did finally arrive it was good for sure, but not "wow." The portions were large, but I've had much better shrimp and grits.
Even with the service failure I do recommend you give the place a try. They are friendly and the food is good.

Whenever my husband and I are in the Tarpon Springs area, a visit to Johnny Grits for breakfast is a must!
The experience begins as you approach the entry door, where you are greeted by an employee and quickly shown to a table for a great dining experience. The menu is extensive, the food is delicious and the servers are friendly and attentive. I personally have a gluten intolerance, so it was wonderful to see gluten-free options on the menu, especially those delicious gluten-free pancakes and waffles.
While you are dining, the owner checks with each table to assure the customers are satisfied with their selections. We highly recommend this restaurant and believe it's definitely worth the visit. Our only regret is that it's not closer to our hometown!

My husband and I went here for breakfast for the first time. From the time that someone opens the door for you and greets you, you will notice how CLEAN this place is. Our service was wonderful (Cindy), both the coffee and the iced tea were fresh. We both had the eggs benedict (one was a special order (with no PROBLEM)) and the hash browns, everything was hot, fresh and delicious. They gave us a sample of the grits, wow are they good, smooth, creamy and just how they should be. We will be coming back soon and will be telling our friends to go there as well.
You really should try this place, you wont be dissappointed

This place is wonderful! The breakfast was great, we had the grilled banana bread, grit benedict bowl, and a potato scramble bowl and my husband and I were pleased with everything. The service was fast and the teamwork is superb! As we were leaving, the line is out the door and very long so, this place is popular. Worth it!

Recently, Lynn & I and a friend had breakfast at Johnny Grits. They are obviously known for their shrimp n Grits ($10.95). That’s what I had with Andouille sausage (+$1.95). (It was spicy, but very good. Lynn, not a Grits fan had a buffalo sandwich (9.95) which she really liked. This small restaurant is a great place for breakfast and lunch. Abby, our server was friendly and excellent. It was our 3rd visit. Terrific!

Couldn’t think of anything to criticize at this place! Nice and clean, the service was outstanding and friendly. The food tasty and fresh. Just a great breakfast!
I had the biscuits and gravy, but it was on a bed of tasty, crisp, cubed potatoes, and scrambled eggs. There was a very good link of sausage and three pieces of bacon as well! It was a super delicious breakfast bowl that had everything you could want for a savory start to your morning.
My waiter did everything right and paid great attention to anything I needed refilled. He was super polite and friendly.

We had breakfast here for the first time on a Monday. It’s in a strip mall, but the exterior was appealing, someone opened the door and greeted us. The interior is fresh, tidy, bright. Our young waiter announced the specials along with the menu. The selections are interesting, priced reasonable. Our food arrived quickly and the waiter returned offense enough to be helpful. We didn’t have to beg another coffee.
Breakfast was great, make the trip to try this place.

Great breakfast, upscale but homey since everyone is so nice, it is clear the food is prepared lovingly. They care! Be sure to stop in for a great meal. Grits are the best I’ve had in a restaurant. Hash is excellent.

Everyone raves about this place and I am not sure why.
Average omelets and horrible coffee. Waited almost 30 minutes for eggs and toast. A little ridiculous.
The gentleman that greeted us was clearly in a frenzy and needs to learn to stay calm even when it's busy. It sets the tone for the staff and there success.
Waitress Bella was very sweet and the only good thing about this experience.
Wasn't worth the 25 we spent and most likely would not go back.

Our first experience , the male server opened the door for us, which was so welcoming. The menu is diverse with a lot of grit dishes! My friend was very happy. I chose chicken and waffles and my friend, a grits Benedict. The service was so friendly and prompt. Being from the Midwest, I asked for syrup. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone! If I come back! I'd happily come again!
