We stopped in, after driving a little out of our way, only because we are huge fans of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. This little corner of the world beat all expectations. We arrived a little before they opened and walked through the little "town" and admired store fronts and the outdoor artifacts, such as, the barbecue. Took advantage of... More

Yes its touristy, but the service is great and the food is served hot and is delicious. My fried chicken breast tasted just like my Southern mother had cooked it back in the kitchen. Vegetables cooked southern style and perfect. Prices reasonable, a good place to get away from the interstate and have a great meal in a fun setting.... More

Saw the movie 2 days before passing through Juliette on my way to Savannah. This place is magical. The menu is pretty simple. Is not at fancy place. But the attention is very good and the food Is amazing. If you re near by on your way to somewhere else stop in the cafe. Is worth it. I will recommend... More

My wife and I were in Georgia and South Carolina for two weeks and this was the best meal we had by far. Everyone making the trip between Savannah and Atlanta should make this easy stop off the freeway and visit. Great food, friendly staff. Even if it wasn't a place of interest because of the movie I would be... More

Returned for a visit 21 years later and it looks exactly the same. Had the fried green tomatoes and lemonade. The secret is in the sauce! Cute of the beaten path place for a slow paced afternoon!

Fun experience. Not at all the tourist trap I sort of expected. Food was excellent, as was service. Decor is cute. And you must have the Pecan Cobbler, it's "heaven in a bowl" !

Had the fried green tomatoes, of course, I'm not big on tomatoes anyway but these were actually pretty good 6 in a portion managed to eat 3 which was pretty good for someone who doesn't like tomatoes. Had ordered a burger too as I was here before driving on to Atlanta and wasn't planning on stopping again, the burger was... More

Just left there. All food provided by Sysco food services. Nothing homemade. It's a Pub. With typical Pub food. Had the Whistle stop burger. Supposed to be best in valley. Mediocre at best. Frozen patti. Overall not bad if pub/frozen pre-made food is what your looking for. But here in the Comox Valley you can do a lot better.

Description
This is where the film "Fried Green Tomatoes" was made. The town is very small, but quaint. The BBQ is cooked over a pit outback, just like in the movie, over pecan wood, The BBQ was the BEST I have ever eaten! The sweet potatoe fries sticks were done to perfection. But the best thing was something that I had never had before, Pecan Dumpling. It has replaced Carnegie Deli cheesecake as my favorite dessert! If you like the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" go to the Whisltle Stop Cafe and have some Fried Green Tomaoes, BBQ, sweet potatoe fires and pecan dumpling and remember a slower, quieter time and enjoy!
