It's been a while since I've visited Merica Pizzeria and I'm glad to have a late lunch at Spaca Napoli. We took the Brown Line train to Montrose and walked the place for a few minutes. We arrived quite early and were seated immediately. We...had the Calamari Picante to start and it was great. Then we had the Bufalina with Garlic Pizza which was perfect.More
Did take out. It was two pizzas. Very very good. Take out is not recommended because this is an oven baked pie, quickly cooked. Can’t let it cool down because it loses its crisp. Still good though hit dine in.
It has been a while since the last time I visited a new VPN Americas pizzeria and I was delighted to have a late lunch at Spacca Napoli. We took the Brown Line train to Montrose and walked a few minutes to the place. We...arrived early enough to be seated right away. We had the calamari piccante to start and it was very good. Then we had a Bufalina with garlic pizza which was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive (thanks, Karen). We plan to be back.More
I believe that this not so little oasis ,which is located partly on Ravenswood Avenue, off of Montrose , is NOT part of a chain, While delicious Naples style pizza is the main offering, also available are salads, and other appetizers which could easily satisfy...one's hunger, Our table started with mouth watering rice balls. The standard pizza seems perfect for two people and is offered in a variety of choices. Wine, beer and aperol sprritz' as well as non alcoholic beverages are available along with a handful of good desserts, of which our table sampled a variety. The premises are charming and attractive outdoor seating is available, weather permitting. The restaurant is family friendly but suitable for couples as well as families or small groups. Service , at least on a busy Saturday evening, was friendly, while a bit slow, but it afforded us leisure to socialize with our friends, Parking nearby is easy.More
I’m Italian, live in Italy and was grown there. I travel all over my country and have been eating Pizza since I can remember. Seldom will you find in Italy a Pizzeria where the excellence in making pizzas reaches the excellence I came across in...Spacca Napoli in Chicago. Who ever goes to restaurant will not only have a wonderful lunch or dinner, but also an insight in another culinary world. And if by chance you should go to Napoli (Neaples) , the homeland of Pizza, than you’ll realise that Spacca Napoli lives up to the highest standards.More
Great food but be prepared to be ridiculously rushed through dinner. Would return if we were okay with a quick, rushed dinner!
Met some friends here for lunch on a weekday. We kept it simple, with each of us ordering a different pizza, and then swapping slices. The pizza was a perfect rendition of what you would find in Italy -- the crust, the sauce, and the...toppings. Plus, the room is very comfortable and the staff welcoming & attentive. This was a "catching-up" lunch for us, so we lingered for about 2 hours, only ordering 1 expresso each during that period (no dessert, no alcohol), with no effort by the staff to push us out the door. Granted the restaurant was not crowded; nonetheless we did appreciate that the waitstaff periodically stopped by to fill out water but placed no pressure on us to order anything else. I wish I lived closer. I'd be there all the time. (Also, free head-in parking is readily available in diagonal spaces along the El tracks on Ravensood Ave., immediately to the west. No circling the block or parallel-parking skills needed.)More
We loved it. Fresh ingredients and lovely staff. The tiramisu was moist and delicious. Lovely place to eat inside or outside.
Wow, what a great splurge night for our last evening in Chicago! I felt like we were transported to Italy. One appetizer and two pizzas were perfect for three people and left room for dessert which is not to be missed. The Eduardo pizza from...the specials menu had roasted eggplant to die for. The peach dessert with gelato was divine on a hot summer evening. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Only about two blocks from an El station so it was easy to find. This was definitely our most expensive meal in Chicago but also the most enjoyable. Get away from it all with a mini vacation to Spacca Napoli!More
Since there were nine of us, my daughter-in-law ordered about eight pizzas and a variety of salads, that my son and I picked up. Although I can’t recall which ones I ate, they were all delicious.
Hands down the best pizza in Chicago. Forget that "Chicago Style" pizza (a joke we locals play on tourists), this Neopolitan style pizza is fresh, beautiful, balanced, and delicious. Great starters, beverages, and desserts to accompany. Friendly service and fun atmosphere. Plan ahead and make...a reservation or expect to wait.More
This was my second time here. The first time, we went with 2 other couples. I talked about how much I loved it for days. Since we were there right before Christmas, my husband bought me a few gift cards to take my girlfriends there...to try it. I took 3 of my girlfriends on a Sunday afternoon. They all loved it! We split a salad and a burrata appetizer. We each ordered our own pizza but easily could have ordered 2. Oh well, we all took pizza home. They owner came up to our table and chatted with us, which was really nice. Definitely is now one of my go-to places!More
Best pizza I've ever had! Also great salad and dessert. My favorite is funghi. If you like pizza Napoletana then this is the spot.
Excellent food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. Even the gelato tasted authentic. Best thin crust pizza on the North side.
