Just when I thought D'Amato's Bakery couldn't do anything more to satisfy its legion of loyal customers who have been lining up early for fresh loaves of bread and chocolate covered cannoli and Italian cookies and tomato-topped focaccia and French bread pizza for more than 45 years...well, maybe one of these days they'll begin to accept credit cards and build... After lunch, we stopped at D'Amato's Bakery for dessert. Make no mistake they have great tasting breads, pizzas and cannolis, but today it was just for the cookies. And D'Amatp's does not disappoint. Whether chocolate chip cookies with the chips either inside or on top, or sprinkle cookies, or the chocolate drop cookies, or the "S" or the "U" cookies,... More

I recently discovered D'Amato's through a long-time customer, I've been back at least once a week for the past few months. Real, authentic bakery-style pizza reminds me of my Italian grandmother's enormous handmade trays that I grew up with...delicious plain, or with the sausage, mushrooms and veggies. The service is warm, friendly and efficient...the entire staff is always welcoming and... More

BRING PLENTY OF CASH!!! You will want two of everything and they do not take plastic. The pizza is particularly fabulous, and the assortment of pastries will knock your socks off. IT is very much a neighborhood joint so enjoy the energy as well.

Place has been around forever, parking is rough but is definitely worth the trip for their Italian bread and pizza. you can feed an army with one of their pan pizza's, very good taste and while I'm not big on thick crust pizza I've gotta say theirs doesn't taste like anyone elses thick pan pizza, it's very "light". Remember this... More

Delicious bread and desserts, D'Amato's is one of our go to bakeries for fluffy bread and an occasional treat. From cannoli's to cakes, D'Amatos has a nice little variety to chose from.

My husband grew up in Chicago and has gone to D'Amato's for years. Now every time we visit the city on vacation, it's our first stop. He has me hooked on the pizza bread. Thick, soft bread/crust and the best sauce & cheese. Italian breads, cookies, cannoli, apple slices, etc. Everything is great. Highly recommend this small neighborhood bakery. But... More

Noted for their baked goods D'Amato's Bakery also has pizzas that are in the top display case. They will heat them up for you to eat outside on the patio, or you can take them home to warm up.

This is an old school Italian bakery in what used to be a real Italian neighborhood. They are primarily noted for baked goods and their cookies, breads and cannolis are among the best. They have sandwiches and they also have small pizzas that they display in the top display case, that you can have them warm up and take them... More

Here is a Grand Avenue Italian bakery in the old Chicago style. The place has been here for at least three generations, consistently turning our loaves of traditional country bread, 1940s style Italian Bakery Pizza, sub sandwiches, and cookies and pastries. Folks line up for their sub sandwiches. These come as quickly as they can make them on their own... More
