When you're in downtown Chicago, you expect to pay high prices for food and drinks, but Monk's is pretty reasonable and convenient - easy to get to by train or by foot and not overly crowded but still fun. We've been many times, and our latest visit showed that Monk's maintains its comfortable, inviting atmosphere.

We have come here twice both times on our annual trip to see the city holiday decorations. Monks has an outstanding Belgium beer and cider selection. The ambiance is wonderful as is the staff. The menu orders American fare and the sandwiches and burgers are quite tasty. Will definately return!

Stopped by, near the theater district. Noted for their hamburgers, and did not disappoint. Turkey ruben was pretty good, but it had pressed meat. Sandwich prices were doable for a large city. Where they get you is the beer and wine. The beer offerings are some international and some craft, which drove the cost up. Two sandwiches, one wine, one... More

We were looking for a pub for lunch on a Saturday and the read great reviews for Monks. The outside is nothing exceptional... Kinda sketchy looking ...but inside the atmosphere is like a European pub with lots of antiques hanging on the walls and a massive collection of old beer pulls which is very fun. My husband loves beer and... More

Good selection of beer. Very crowded, but friendly service. Bartender very knowledgeable of their beer selection. Would have liked to try their food.

Was in town on vacation and stumbled across this place being close to my hotel. Had a great enjoyable time here on a Friday night for some drinks and dinner. Have a great selection of beers! Our server was very helping in helping us select a great beer. The service was fast. (it was packed) Food and drinks came out... More

This was a cute place with very interesting decor - lots of antique books and decorations and a ton of old taps everywhere, which was cool. Their beer selection was pretty varied and we liked all the beers we tried. They had quite a few TVs playing the game (it was during the Cubs world series GO CUBS!) and our... More

Good selection of beer and spirits for a quick drink with colleagues after work and meetings. Also went for lunch between business meetings, found space for 9 people, and had really good / quick service. The food is really tasty too.

We went in one night and ate, we only went for the wide range of beers but as the staff where friendly and the beer good we stayed for food. Food was good, beer was good. Price was a little heavy. Next day we went back, just wanting to sit at the bar for a quick drink, it was totally... More
