Caro Mio is definitely off the beaten path in the Ravenswood neighborhood, but it is worth the journey. The restaurant that spans three converted storefronts is nicely decorated in a simple Italian motif. The wait staff was excellent and our orders came up with a very reasonable wait. Please note that they do not have a liquor license, so it’s... More

This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant in the Ravenswood section of Chicago. The menu is extensive, and the food is excellent. It is near public transportation.

Went here with my daughter and her husband. It's byob and had been recommended by a co-worker. My daughter had one of the specials, a pesto and asiago cheese stuffed gnocchi with a creamy tomato sauce. I had a taste and if I had tried it before I ordered, I would have ordered it. Really wonderful flavor. My son-in-law had... More

We went to Cara Mia last night for dinner with another couple. I found it to neither be the horrible meal that some trip advisor reviews said or the great little Italian restaurant gem that others said. They were very busy but honored our reservation promptly. The service was friendly and attentive and they constantly refilled our water, cleared our... More

If you have never been to Italy maybe you could think this is italian food!!!! But it is not, at all!!! Terrible recipes, too many ingredients, too much salt. Local definitely unattractive. Never again!

On my last visit I think it really was my last visit. The food is very salty.... overly...the Appetizer.was.forgotten (again). It's not inexpensive. Over the years its gotten a little worse each year. The bread is.from a precut store loaf. The BYOB is the saving.grace and the people are nice. But the food is not for the price. Heavy sauces... Been here twice. Too bad the first time was for my birthday dinner. I think my meal had a months worth of salt content. BOTH of our dishes. We were going to send them back but the issue was the red sauce- which restaurants make in batches. We asked and they said they don't salt at the end, otherwise we... More

This place has very good food and lots of it. Don't get in a big hurry because made-from-scratch takes time. It's BYOB and quaint with tablecloths and flowers. This means your food will be around $20-22 per plate. My husband got the chicken picatta, I got the eggplant parmigiana and my daughter got a big stuffed lasagna-looking dish. We had... More

This is a BYOB As in booze OR butter! They refuse to serve you butter with their good bread? This is a return visit as my Chicago kids love this place. Probably because they deliver huge entrees that are boxed for lunch the next day. However I find the place adequate. It is always cold. The tables are tiny and... More

A little hard to find - but a worthwhile find! Great Italian food and excellent service. Be sure and bring you fav0ate wine as the nearest liquor store is 3 blocks away.
