Two Australians vusiting Chicago. Based on a really positive review decided on pizza at Lou Malnatis. Maybe out expectations were too high but this was very poor. Slow, surly, sour service. Having to wave at the waitstaff to be noticed is not good. 15 minutes...before someone could be bothered to take an order. 45 minutes for a small pizza to be at the table? Not again.More

Been eating Lou's pizza most of my life. When moved out of state, we ordered and had it shipped to us. What a treat we always looked forward to. What happened to their recipe!!! We were in Naperville recently and everyone said, after the second...bite, this is not good. The recipe was totally different...and not for the better. WHAT A SHAME!!!More

Wanted to experience true deep dish Chicago pizza. Lou Malanti’s did not disappoint. Though a little pricey, the pizza was delicious. Only negative: The place stays very busy (a good sign!) thus our waitress was very busy and not super friendly. Not a deal-breaker but...enough to notice.More

After a long exhausting day, we decided that we could barely budge to go out to dinner. We decided on take-out close to the hotel, and of course, deep dish pizza is something we had to try. We ordered pizza, a large salad to share,...and wings. Family members picked it up, and they were also provided with plates, utensils, napkins. We settled into the empty breakfast area at the hotel. Everything was good, the pizza style more unique than the actual taste of it. Very saucy though. The salad was great. The wings were tasty. I'd recommend for the local experience.More

The service his horrendous, not just our table but every table around us. Waiting 20 to 25 minutes to get pitchers of beer. Mixed drink was longer. 3 tables were waiting as long , 1 table got up and left. Weather its short staff or...just lousy workers is irrelevant, when you sit down to eat, you expect to be waited on.More

My wife and I wanted to get a Chicago style deep dish pizza during our trip to Chicago for a business conference this past July. Malnati’s was the closest place to our hotel on the North Loop so we went there for lunch. We sat...at a table out front and fortunately had some shade to shield us from the scorching sun. We shared a deep dish sausage pizza. It had a butter crust that was somewhat hard, which I didn’t think was as good as UNO’s crust. The pizza was otherwise very tasty. I’m glad we tried the deep dish pizza at Malnati’s.More

This restaurant was so amazing! There seems to always be a wait for pizza regardless of the location. But at this location, they advise you to put your name in, look over the menu and then put in your order ASAP. That way, when you...get to your table, you don't have too long to wait. The waiter we had was so amazing considering the number of diners there were. The pizza was more amazing than I had thought (and this is a girl from Brooklyn reviewing!) The neighborhood is full of great restaurants and great buildings!More

Lou Malnati’s was the place everyone said to try Chicago deep dish pizza so we did. For our family, we thought it was just ok. The butter crust was hard, not as much cheese as I would expect from a deep dish pizza and the...marinara sauce was just ok too. We also tried the spinach cheese loaf which was also ok. I guess it’s worth a try once.More

This is another Trip Advisor top rated restaurant for original deep thick crusted style pizza I used park wiz to park in between this and the hot dog place we reviewed. Since we were going to 2 different restaurants we just got a personal Pan...pizza the classic that had sausage on it we didn't have to wait too long about 20 minutes To be seated they do tell you to go ahead and order while you're waiting which is pretty neat so then we didn't have to wait that long after we sat down. It was very good although we do like thin crust. This crust is called the butter crust it's very crispy which surprised me I thought it would be thick and Doughy. It's almost like a bisquick crust .We really enjoyed it..the restaurant was loud although we had a table of single guys next to us that were On their way to being pretty drunk One of them spilled hus drink all over his shorts so I guess that's karma. Service was good. Hostess was very niceMore

Great food with awesome staff. The pizzas are well worth enjoying especially when visiting Chicago. The acoustics make large group conversations tough.

My friend and I arrived about 10 pm and were told it closed at 11 so plenty of time. We were instructed that we should preorder before being seated for quicker service. We were seated within 10 minutes but were then told our order of...one small deep dish would be 17 minutes. An hour later we were still waiting. By the time the pizza came it was 11:30 and the crust was burnt on the bottom and raw in the middle. The cheese was more like the consistency of bubble gum and by then the waiter was surly and dropped the bill on his way past the table without even stopping. For a business that was supposed to close at 11, to not even receive your inedible food until 11:30 is incomprehensible. The ladies washroom was another highlight to be avoided at all costs I might add. Needless to say our overpriced pizza and 2 sodas were comped when the manager was summoned.More

Visited Chicago with my 2 sons and husband and had to give Malnati’s a try as we had read reviews and had talked to numerous people who recommended this place. I liked the atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I like that you can...get on the waiting list and then preorder your food so you don’t have a long wait to eat once seated. We decided to order the large classic deep dish which feeds 4 and is plenty for 4. It gives you 2 slices each and we had 2 slices left over. The bread was bland, not much taste, the tomato sauce was chunky and again bland. All 4 of us felt is was just ok. Have had better pizza elsewhere and back home. I wouldn’t say it was bad, just on the bland side. I haven’t been anywhere else for pizza in Chicago so have nothing to compare it to here. I’ll try Gino’s East next.More

Always enjoy some Chicago style pizza. I hadn't had Lou's in about 10 years but have had Gino's East and Giordano's since then. Had to try Lou's again to compare. I'd say Lou's is 3rd best. Very good, but not quite as good as the...others. Their sauce is a little chunkier with big pieces of tomato and has a stronger garlic flavor than the others. Crust not quite as thick either.More

We waited for more than one hour to get our table. We wanted to try the deep dish pizza. 1- The worst taste sprite ever ( I think it was from the Ice). 2- They brought the salad but no forks ( she was surprised...when we asked for forks) 3- They brought the pizza but no knives ( I don’t remember last time I had this in a dine in restaurant) the pizza was acceptable but over cooked, so crusty. 4- Then after about 45 minutes she said I’m sorry but it seems that we lost your deep dish pizza and we have to wait for 20-25 minutes if we want it. The manager was very kind and he offered meal for free which we tried to refuse. Then we saw the manger having the same conversation with a table next to ours, offering a free meal! The floor was very dirty ( disgusting)More
