We dined here for a previous birthday celebration and were very impressed with everything from beginning to end. This a great place for a romantic dinner. Big booths available (we were fortunate to get one of these...perhaps for those that reserve further out). We were...More

Amazing dinner. We spent about $300 for the two of us. The service is superior. Our server, Kevin, was great at explaining the different foods. We started with half a dozen oysters and received a set of oysters from 3 different regions. The bread and...More

The last time I looked, David Burke's name was on the marquee. No longer. But it doesn't matter. Food makes a restaurant, not a name. And the Primehouse at 616 North Rush Street, at Ontario, in the River North neighborhood, still ranks as the No....More

Our server in the bar, Delores, was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Primehouse is a classy setting just off the Magnificent Mile.

I had a couple of appetizers and an entrée and I ♥ed it. I sat out on the sidewalk which I recommend doing for the summer months. It provides a nice relaxing atmosphere. The service was fast as well. They have the best steaks in...More

This was absolutely the best steak I had this year. Asparagus was server in a very surprising way - with sunny side up on top. We had 55 day ribeye and Kansas City - unbelievable... I am Ruth Chris/Morton's regular but I will have to...More

We had learned about Primehouse on the Travel Channel. They specialize in dry aged beef, which is our favorite form of aging. It exceeded our expectations. Our server, Jeremy, was amazing. We ordered one 55 day and one 75 day aged prime rib steaks, cooked...More

Was staying at The James hotel and booked a table at the Primehouse which is the hotel restaurant. Very comfortable surroundings, relaxed atmosphere, and great service. Had the 55 day ribeye which was one of the best steaks I have had... Cooked to perfection.

Depends on how you like your steak (Rare, well done, etc) and if you cab it or take the L. If it were me, with a 5:30 reservation and I ordered a salad, steak MR then jumped in a cab, I'd have no worries about making the... More

Agree with above. Crowd was mixed, i.e. some suits and lots of people in jeans and polo's. No need to overdress.

Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate destination for special gatherings, the Private Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to the steakhouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement the progressive fare. #1 Steakhouse in Chicago by Chicago magazine, Best Burger in the U.S. by Food & Wine, Best Steakhouses in the U.S. by USA Today.
