Before you could find a Giordano's on every corner, or an Uno franchise in every city, there was Gino's East. This original location - east of Michigan Avenue - has been a destination for locals and tourists for decades. In the recent past the venue...More

We had a thin crust so it came out faster (sort of as an appetizer) then a deep dish! Great - this is good eating!

Pizza was Average at best, you have to wait forever if you want a waiter to eventually pass you so you could order or ask for the bill or whatever.. 45 mins to an hour for a deep dish by the way. The location is...More

Asked the guy doing the tour for the hop-on-hop off buss, where was the best pizza - he said any of the Gino's location. Laid back, graffiti decor and a "local" feel to it. I had pizza. Enjoyed it tremendously, although did not find the...More

While visiting Chicago we had to have at least one meal with pizza. We decided to try Gino's East as it had been highly recommended for deep dish pizza, a treat we rarely eat. The first thing you notice is the line of patrons waiting...More

Love this place. I eat here every time I go to Chicago. The deep dish pizza is great, and the atmosphere and beer selection is good. Be aware on busy nights, there can be quite a wait. Expect to wait about an hour for the...More

The decor, by design, is rough and dumpy. A long history of graffiti creates the unusual atmosphere. While that is unique on purpose, the restaurant seems to be riding on it's long-standing reputation. It's known for its classic Chicago deep dish pizzas. A large will...More

Wow! An incredibly tasty pizza! And that means a lot from a New Yorker who's just visiting Chicago for a few days. The crust was so soft and airy, yet with some awesome crunch! The sauce was outstanding, and the mix of Italian sausage, pepperoni,...More

I bought two large "thin" pies for my colleagues. The all meat option at $29 for an extra large feeds 4-6 people. The margarita extra large feeds 4-6 people. A whopping $59 for two pizzas! Plus the tip! I'm not just picking on Gino's East...More

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan
Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent
Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago
River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out
neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the
place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with
shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and
dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.

Description
For 50 years, the original Gino’s East has been offering the best deep dish pizza experience in Chicago. Since we opened our doors in 1966, we’ve shared millions of our signature golden-crust Chicago-style pizzas with Chicagoans, celebrities, and visitors from all over the world. Don’t believe us? The writing is on the walls! We’re world-famous for our tradition of letting all of our customers leave their mark on our restaurant. Come by and leave some graffiti, if you can find a spot, and see if you can find it next year!

Gino’s Chicago-style deep dish is made the same way it was 50 years ago. We start with our signature, secret-recipe dough and top it with mounds of mozzarella cheese, fresh toppings, and our tangy tomato sauce. Our pies are slowly baked in seasoned cast iron pans until the crust is golden and flaky, then we serve it table-side, piping hot, right out of the pan.
Our deep dish pizzas are loaded with so many toppings that we have cook them for nearly an hour. That’s also the reason we have to put the sauce on top; if we didn’t, the cheese would burn! But trust us, it’s worth the wait. We promise. Ask the people that agree that we are the best deep dish pizza in Chicago.

Not sure what to order? Try one of our signature pizzas! The Meaty Legend is a carnivore’s dream, with pounds of pepperoni, special-recipe Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, and crispy bacon. The Chicago Fire is perfect for spice-lovers, with a layer of extra spicy Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, red onions, and jalapeno. Not a meat eater? Try our signature spinach pizza with a blend of fresh spinach and mozzarella cheese. And for the purist, we offer our patty sausage pizza, with a thick layer of our signature sausage covering the entire pie so you get tasty sausage in every bite!
