I had out of town guests for the weekend. They are foodies and hard to impress. Blue Door Kitchen & Garden left a lingering and outstanding impression. The food was to die for (especially the chicken) and the garden provided a quiet, energetic oasis to enjoy the evening. So lovely all the way around.

The appetizer selection is the bright point here. So much to choose from that all sounded great! We ended up ordering quite a few and sharing. Main course selection ok, but the execution was outstanding. Everybody's dinner was tasty and presentation was spot on!

We went here for a dinner out in they city. The outdoor atmosphere was incredible! We loved the decor and the lights hung over the tables. It was a little chilly, but all the outdoor heaters were going and it was wonderful! Our waiter was so friendly, but a little absent minded. He forgot our appetizer 3 times and also... More

Every bite of food was delicious. I had the deviled eggs, kale and shaved sprout salad, Art's famous fried chicken, mac and cheese, and the hummingbird cake for dessert. I'm always a bit skeptical of famous fried chicken, but this really did not disappoint; it's served with beautiful honey and hot sauce - definitely my favorite fried chicken in Chicago.... More

We had a 22 person dinner here. We were able to pick our entree from a predetermined short list of fried chicken, ribeye, and fish. The fried chicken and ribeye were tasty. The room was decent size. The wait staff was adequate.

A sufficiently varied menu offered choices for our party of six. Specialties from a well known, local chef survived foodie trends and lived up to billing. We were seated in upstairs dining room where conversation was encouraged and leisurely service made the occasion a lovely evening. A large patio looked inviting when the weather turns warm.

Had a GREAT Sunday brunch with family and friends. The biscuits were a little over done, but all else was fresh and well prepared. The staff was VERY attentive and worked very hard to make our visit enjoyable. Particularly enjoyed the Kale and brussell sprout salad, the beignets, eggs benedict, and the trout were splendid.

The patio is spacious and get no sun after about 5pm. The tables are spread far enough apart you can talk without being in some else's conversation. Service was great (thanks Samuel) and the food was better. We started with the signature deviled eggs which were certainly original and tasty. They change every week or two. Two of our party... Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
