Timmerman's Supper Club was built and established in 1961 by Helen Timmerman. Helen's vision for fine dining resulted in a great reputation for superb food, cocktails and weekly entertainment. In 1985 the restaurant was purchased by David and Patti Thiltgen, who later sold it in 1998 to Juan and Sandy Rodriguez. During those years the two current owners; Mark Hayes and Gary Neuses started working at the Supper Club. Between the two of them they have over 50 years experience at Timmerman's Supper Club. They purchased the restaurant in 2003 and have been working very hard to continue to build on Helen Timmerman's legacy of excellence. Timmerman's Supper Club overlooks the Mississippi River Valley;

Markhus knew his menu quite well and suggested a number of items…he was exactly correct it was exactly what we wanted…it tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The surf and turf lobster and New York strip was fantastic…the hashbrowns cooked perfect and the mushrooms and...onions added the perfect flavor to the steak. Marcus was quite attentive To our needs and was an exceptional waiterMore

We were so excited to go to a supper club. This was a little run down. The whole restaurant and bar are in the same room. Very open and noisy. Service was pretty good and food was ok. I had shrimp and filet. The filet...was flavorless, had to use steak sauce and the shrimp were small, and just fair. My husband had the prime rib and enjoyed it. We wouldn't rush back. We were sad since it was our anniversary. And they charge you 4% for using your credit card. I am not sure Visa would be happy with this, usually its not the customer who pays that. One very good thing was the view-beautiful sunsets! Other than that, Very disappointedMore

I order from Timmerman's a lot Always tip the driver to have food delivered, but tonight the food I received was horrific. I called and spoke to Mark one of the owners. He was so incredibly rude. Do not patronize.More

Started after the bar with great service and drinks by Gary. Dinner choice was chicken and artichokes. Superb! The Berringer cab was also hit.

This iconic location on Highway 20 between Galena and Dubuque. The building itself, with slanted windows, impeccable views and concrete architecture that doubles as decor. There is a spirit of the people who have eaten here over decades. Large dining areas, views of the Mississippi...River, breathtaking sunsets, Timmerman's is the genre of the family resort vacation, dinner here would signify a special occasion where everyone would dress formal or semi-formal. Soup, salad, main course and best of all a most delicious martini! Those of us fortunate enough to understand how our parents/grandparents would have reverence for an establishment like Timmerman's as upper crust, yet the joie de vivre of past generations was noted with the older couples present. In attendance the evening we were there was a most wonderful couple, probably aged 80, in their finest! Her glitter silver dress and his full suit served as this reminder that Timmerman's was regal. Alas, this deep respect for dining in style has been replaced by the current feel of it's just dinner. Staff was lackluster, devoid of personality because "its just a job" put a bit of a damper on this glorious trip to the past. Overall, check it out for yourself. It was glorious to be at a place like none other!More

Felt like stepping back in time . Relaxed feel with nice views. Staff was great. No complaints. We both had the special which was chicken parmesan over angel hair pasta.

My family have been dining and dancing at Timmerman’s door decades. Though some of us live out of town this great place is alway a stop (or two) while we are home. Evening dinners or Sunday Brunch Mark and Gary will always make you fell...comfortable and at home.More

We have driven by Timmermans many, many times and always wanted to eat there. So, us three couples were spending a few days in Galena and decided to go to Timmermans for dinner. It is definitely a vintage building, located on a cliff overlooking the...Mississippi river and the view is beautiful. But the dining experience was very lackluster. The two men at the front desk didn’t give us a warm and inviting feeling. Our server named Jared was excellent. The six of us all ordered different entrées and the food was good, I wouldn’t say phenomenal, but OK. We just had high expectations and it really was just an average dining experience. I wish I could say more exciting things about this place, but it wasn’t.More

Of course the view was beautiful, the staff was great… so that is 2 stars! We ordered scallops and seafood platter. None of the seafood was fresh, the taste was not good for an expensive dinner! I’ve tasted many fantastic scallops, these were poorly cooked!...The cornbread was dry! The salad and potato were good! I was surprised, I expected better and have wanted to eat here for years! The po-dunk bar in Sabula had fantastic breakfast, so the day wasn’t a total waste!More

Coming from Indiana, supper clubs are few and far between. We enjoyed the experience at Timmermans. The menu was ample but we decided on the seafood - shrimp for me and catfish for my wife. Bread given at sit down and dinner salad before the...entree were both fine. More bread served with meal. Both of our dishes were good. Glad we were given a front row seat to the beautiful river view. Very good server, she even knew the Mt. Carmel Convent was across the way in a stately group of buildings overlooking the Mississippi River in Dubuque. NOTE: Pay cash for your meal or you will receive an up-charge for using credit.More
