We were looking for a quick bite because we had little time, this was right across the street from our hotel. I'm not a bar person, but this place was very nice. And the chicken pot pie was amazing!! We enjoyed every delicious, filling bite. Make it a stop!!

There are plenty of dining choices in Evanston and for our purposes we'll probably won't be returning to Tommy Nevin's. We were there for a Wed dinner. Pretty empty, the restaurant portion was a bit chilly. We ordered Chicken Pot Pie, Meat Loaf, Tilapia, chicken soup and onion soup. Portions are fairly large. My Tilapia was fried, I was expecting... We chose Tommy Nevin's Pub for a meet-up of about 25 friends who used to work together -- it was great! The wait staff was attentive and the atmosphere perfect. A perfect happy hour gathering spot!!

It's an institution by now. Because of this, it can be a bit lax at times. All in all pretty good, though, with the corned beef done to this Celt's liking.

Fish and chip special was good a little salty, the service was ok. The projector TV in our eyes was a downer.

Corned beef is lean, tender and a generous portion but the cabbage is hard as a rock. Potatoes and carrots are good. Service was attentive. Chicken soup was heavy on chicken and light on veggies but that may have been luck of the draw. Would have been above the average Irish pub if cabbage was even close.

Nevins used to be one of my favorite pubs. No more. Went there twice thus month. Wait staff seemed to have wandered in by accident. Drinks came in about 40 minutes. Food started arriving about half an hour later, with one person at the table finally getting a simple dish nearly an hour after that. And that in an empty... More

I was staying at the hotel across the street and visited the place a few times on my stay in Evanston. During the school year the bar is primarily full of college aged kids. Not your typical pub crowd. Decent service and very good beer selection.
