We used to like this restaurant. It is not cheap but the food was good. However, last time we ordered carry out, which contained salad with octopus. Octopus was rotten. Unfortunately, I only realized it after I put it in my mouth. It was disgusting! I used to love octopus. I am afraid to touch it now. Of course, we'll... More

My mother is Japanese. After trying Japanese restaurants in the northern suburbs, she prefers Hayashi. The sushi chef has been at this restaurant for decades & never disappoints. We ordered a big sushi plate for a backyard party & it was the first dish to disappear. We've ordered most of the dishes over the past 20 years & the fish... More

What a pleasant surprise to find such a delightful restaurant in a shopping center atmosphere. Each time we visit this little slice of paradise, it is just as nice as the last visit.

My daughter and I have been going to this restaurant for years, last year, this place was disappointing because of the service and the quality seemed to have gone down. But last weekend we tried it again and its great to see new friendly people in there. The food was good and service was great. Its nice to get the... More

Friendly staff, tasty food. My wife loves the sushi and tempura. I recommend the steak karashiyaki. Nice date night spot.

Revisited after not being here for quite a while and was pleasantly surprised to find the quality of the sushi is back up to being very good. Also had a bento box which was excellent also.

I'm a sushi fiend and I've eaten at Sushi restaurants all over the globe - Hayashi is not the best sushi in the world, but it is, for sure, the best in northern Lake County. It is also a great value - really good sushi for a decent price. Add to that the exceptional service and the very friendly owners... More

I'm going to have to disagree with other reviewers on this restaurant. I was less than impressed with the freshness of the seafood & the water just tasted disgusting. I would not recommend this place! I thought there might be a reason there were so few people here & was right.
