First we tried the potato skins: great taste and presentation, lots of bacon, cheese and green onions on them.........and sour cream. Next night tried salad, skirt steak, baked potato and broccoli--out of this world! Marinated steak or something......had it all again a second night. Loved our host Arya, who was extremely attentive and interesting. We had a lovely visit. Though... More

I love Rocky Vander's! For basic bar and grill food, it's fine. My friends and I go there on late nights, and they serve food later than most all sit-down places. The BEST part is that this restaurant is on the Rewards Network program, so if you are already signed up for programs like AAdvantage (American Airlines) Dining or MileagePlus... More

We stopped here mid-afternoon on the way to ORD. I used GPS to find something other than fast food, and this place was not too far out of the way. Not being from the area, we weren't sure where to go so we took a chance. It is a typical bar, but the menu options are varied. Salads are good,... More

In my opinion this place is dirty and smells of smoke. The food i ordered was greasy, unappetizing, and gave me a stomach ache. What was once a nice ma and pa bar/grill has turned into just another typical bar with bad clientele.. Servers are extremely rude and never come in a timely fashion. However, if you want a strong... I reviewed this place as a "dump" but, against my better judgement a group wanted to go back. This place has been totally remodeled and updated. The place was "alive" with "real people" not just local drunks. Changed my opinion. The only complaint now is that a Sam Adams beer was $5. A little expensive I thought.

Visited on August 18, 2012 for dinner. In town for business for the second time, a year apart. Did not go my first time and now I think it was a mistake. The atmoshere was very nice, the service great and food was great too. They have a patio and live entertainment but I ate inside. Next time I'm in town... More

I quite enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. The food was good and the service was outstanding. I was slightly put off when offered by my waitress to go out to her car for a 'full service experience'. Other than that, I rate Vander's at three stars - check it out!

Rocky Vander's is actually a fun time if you're looking for a dive bar. They've recently remodeled, but the basics are the same. Food is fine, drinks are strong.

Poor management, policy and dishonest service made my visit here extremely regrettable. The bar staff requires a credit card to be held, even if you pay cash for your tab. The bar servers change more often than blackjack dealers, so it's impossible to know whose supposed to be serving you. Really, it doesn't matter anyway, because you hardly see them... More
