Great little dive taqueria. We come here sometimes when we are on our way to the Genesee Theater. They are quick, inexpensive, authentic, satisfying and delicious. My favorites include the Tostada de Ceviche and the Carne Asada Taco. They do a really tasty Ceviche. It is has a nice amount of acid that pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the... More

Disgusting. We saw a rat inside the restaurant while eating our lunch and to make matters worse, we were overcharged for our food. When we took the bill to the management they did not rectify the situation. Would NOT recommend this place and will never eat here again!!! ~Cecilio and Neva Rodriguez

Taqueria was delicious, and a great choice if you are looking to get food after 9 pm (only take out after 9pm). Everything on the menu was under $11.99 and the portions were large. I got the Tacos de Barbacoa the tacos were enjoyable. The only reason this review was not a excellent was due the amount of oil in... More

Taqueria Toluca provided a fantastic experience. The Huevos con nopales (Cactus and eggs) was by and far one of the better meals I have had in recent memory. Substantial portions and definitely priced right - 6.99. Fresh ingredients - cucumber, avocado, red onion and tomato. Three salsas accompany the chips. The meal was still hot 15 minutes into the meal!... More

I had El Pastor- Cecina, Arrerecha, and Asada. Delicious. I had a partner in this Taco adventure all together we had 7 tacos, and order... More

Very good food and not your standard Taco Dishes. Liked the Chicken in Mole Sauce and also the whole Catfish. Prices are reasonable and "outstanding, friendly" service! Now this is not your romantic getaway place but it is very nice and very busy (Saturday 7:00PM) a fairly large place and when I looked around most tables were occupied by Mexicans... More

I visited Toluca on Washington at 1pm on a Saturday and it was PACKED. No parking, screaming children running wild... The food was well worth it. We were immediately brought chips and four different salsas, my favorites were the green salsa (cilantro, lime, tomatillos) and a 'traditional' salsa that we white folks are used to. There was also a salsa... More

As far as taquerias go (and there are plenty to choose from in Waukegan), Toluca is the best due to its extensive menu (including plenty of vegetarian options), quick service and ambience/live entertainment. My husband always gets the burrito al pastor, and I have tried several seafood dishes. If you are overwhelmed by the choices in Mexican restaurants in Waukegan,... More
