I went to Iwataya during a business trip to Evansville, on my own. This is a good Japanese restaurant, which has an interior in traditional style like I have seen many during my trips to Japan. There are normal tables, but also sunken tables, and secluded booths if you want more privacy for your group. Service was very friendly. Food... More

A friend and I visited here on a Saturday night without reservations and they were kind enough to find a seat for us within ten minutes. The cuisine seems very authentic but we opted for just sushi and were not disappointed. It was very fresh and the flavors were good. I did think the portion sizes were smaller than other... More

Everything about this restaurant is authentic Japanese. From the menus to the tables to the food and service. I had soba noodles with tempura shrimp and vegetables. Wow!! Lots of food! And so good. My husband had the curry beef and rice. It was enough for three people. And it came with a salad! We had gyoza for an appetizer... More

The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. First time to dine a Japanese restaurant with a lot of Japanese dining here. I guess the food must be authentic. I got a teriyaki salmon bento box and replaced the California roll to a Burning man roll. It tastes great.

This is a great place for lunch and is a good value. The food is excellent and there is way too much to eat for a lunch. The service is good for lunch. I haven't been there for dinner in a long while because it took too long to dine; service wasn't bad though just too lengthy of a meal... More

Fresh is everything when it comes to sushi and Iwataya delivers! So enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant too, especially sitting at the traditional Japanese-styled tables. Had the pork-filled wontons (like a potsticker) and marinated octopus (Tako Su) to start and four different sushi rolls: the Satsuki, the Philadelphia, the Burning Man, and the Ayame. So delicious! Also tried the... More

While the food is good and reliable, the servers are anxious to depart at night. It is not clear if the restaurant is open from night to night. On a recent visit, our server informed us that they closed at 9:00 (Friday) and we needed to finish and leave immediately.
