My son and daughter-in-law took us to Vera Mae's last evening for our anniversary and I loved it. The atmosphere was warm, artsy and historic. The live guitarists, twinkling lights and sparkling table added to our delightful experience. We each ordered a different entre that...More

Beautifully decorated. The food was superb like always. Kent took our traditional Christmas picture in front of their gorgeous tree. Fine casual dining at its best in Muncie.

Vera Mae's is a beautiful restaurant that offers outdoor seating. I enjoyed the rack of lamb and my husband liked his portibello quinoa. Vera Mae's is a must stop in Muncie

This place is amazing. The food is incredible, fresh and made to order. Service is great. The decor of the restaurant is very old and ornate, it is a beautiful building. Very nice outdoor eating area on the patio.

Recommended by a former Ball St grad, this place is well worth a visit---Hoosiers have no problem driving many miles to find a good restaurant. Ambiance is classic bare brick walls and high ceilings: restored 1920s perhaps? Service is welcoming and efficient. The food? Very...More

We chose to dine outside and it was lovely. The traffic was a little louder than we expected but can certainly be overlooked. We chose the crab and artichoke dip as an appetizer. The cheese was toasted nicely on the top and the dip was...More

I dined here with some friends for dinner. I would rate this as fine dining along the recently rebuilt Walnut Street area in downtown Muncie. The dining area has several bizarre paintings hanging on the wall, but the food is relatively normal. I had the...More

Doesn't appear to be a dress code per se... I wouldn't go any less than business casual however. It's classier than jeans and a t-shirt or shorts let's keep it that way

Opening its doors in 1999, Vera Mae’s began its story as a lunch delivery and catering business through its South Walnut street storefront in downtown Muncie. Owner Kent Shuff pioneered the revitalization of Muncie’s historical district and later expanded the restaurant in 2002. Formerly Ballard Hardware, Kent and co-owner and partner, Steve Fennimore created the Ballaird Hall, increasing the original Bistro from 54 seats to 210 seats. Come explore the living history of a Midwestern staple. On our walls you will find part namesake, Vera Yates (Kent's Grandmother) at her restaurant and gas station, along with David Letterman on an evening out. Everything has a story as the modern local art and historic architectural elements combine for an intoxicating evening of hand-crafted cuisine and delectable drinks.
