If you’re the sort of person who likes food priced at 13 and 1/2, or 16, ( what - roubles, dollars, Gambian Dalasi? ) with fish and chips served on a square of paper on a thick flat board, and your pudding in a blue and white enamel bowl of the type your granny threw away many years ago, you’ll... We visited the Bell with some friends and we were imediately a little put off by the menu and struggled to find a dish that appealed. The way the food was priced was also silly. There was also no specials board or lunch menu. The food that we did decide upon was good however and the service was well informed... More

I have dined in The Bell a few times during visits to my son, who lives in Cheltenham. I have found it to be consistently excellent in terms of food, service and surroundings. On my last visit, a Saturday evening, I booked a table as it does get very busy. The service and food did not suffer despite being full... More

We were cycling in the area and booked a table for lunch at what we thought was a village pub. It turned out to be a serious restaurant - with excellent food and superb service. It was a Sunday so the simple bar snack we were looking for was not on the menu - but we chose some light foods... More

Beautiful surroundings with lots of gorgeous walks around. Definitely a destination pub for a special meal or event- lovely décor with open fires, tweed interior design and close to Cirencester/Cheltenham/Stroud. We went over the Christmas break with the family but hadn't booked and after our walk the pub was heaving with diners so we had to go elsewhere. We've been... More

Popped in on the way to Cirencester for lunch. It was very busy but they managed to accommodate us for a quick bite to eat despite all the tables being reserved! There were even people at the bar and outside eating!! The Sunday roasts are obviously very good!! My partner and I had a starter of mackerel pate on toast... More

We decided to book here after hearing so many rave reviews about the food and Cosy interior, on arrival it was very welcoming and we were showed to a lovely table which already had bread and water on for us, the staff were lovely and very accommodating, although as somebody who works in hospitality they had a lack of knowledge... We stopped off for a roast in this atmospheric pub and weren't disappointed. The time between courses was perfect and the service was impeccable. The food is superb and we would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful high end gastro pub

We visited here over the Christmas period and we were pleased to find the interior and atmosphere as good as it has always been. The food however was another story. Based on every dish we had, the quality of the food has definitely deteriorated significantly. We ordered fish and chips for the children. The battered fish which arrived was a... More

We had Sunday lunch here, and would highly recommend it. Very welcoming atmosphere, lovely food and plenty of choice; traditional and more unusual options. Portion sizes about right and reasonable value. The day we visited it was busy but we didn't have to wait an unreasonable length of time for any of our food, and it was piping hot. Thank... More
