We had the buffet which was offered with our concert tickets. First of all, the price was only $30 for the two of us. I kept trying to figure out why they were only charging for one of us! It took me a moment to realize that the $30 was for both of us! So honestly I was not expecting... More

We visited last week as part of a theater package which included our family style dinner. Much of the meal was good, but the beef and chicken were both tough and chewy. Not a tender piece of meat in sight. Next time we will order items from the menu and forego the "bargain".

First off, great food along with very nice selections. Atmosphere at this type of restaurant is very important and the atmosphere here was perfect. Exactly what you would expect. Employees were dressed to fit the ambience of the overall setting. Menu included "chicken and noodles" and a Friday only "fish Fry" as well as a terrific "combo plate". This place... More

We were here for the theatre and decided to have lunch. The seating is ample and you have the choice of booth or table. Seating is available for couples or large parties. The menu choices range from, "Down home Amish fare to healthy choices. We enjoyed the, Country Cobb Salad and Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad. Both were very good and... More

Shipshewanna has several breakfast and lunch options. But ... the Blue Gate Restaurant is the GO to place for dinner. We have ordered off the menu and the family dinner style when we had a crowd. Great service and food.

My friends and I visited The Blue Gate Restaurant on our girls' weekend mid November. This was our first time in Shipshewana. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We arrived around 11:30am and had no trouble getting seated. We chose the family style lunch. The homemade wheat bread that we started with was amazing and still hot! We spread some... More

We ate in the restaurant following a show in the upstairs theater. Service was excellent, food was tasty and hot. We had two people in our group with birthdays, and the waitresses brought each of them a small cake with lighted candle and sang happy birthday. Found no extra charge for this bit of fun. Thank you!

Description
When the newly built Blue Gate Restaurant & Bakery opened it doors on August 4th, 2001 in Shipshewana, the entire town was invited over for dinner. As one of Indiana's largest restaurants, the Blue Gate comfortably seats 600 (more than the town's population). Built to reflect the surrounding community, the Blue Gate resembles a rambling white farmhouse, similar to those that dot the surrounding Amish coutnryside. An award winning restaurant serving a world famous Family-style meal that features pressure fried chicken and 3 other meats, real mashed potatoes, Amish noodles, plus lots of other sides and 25 varieties of pies to choose from
