The Flying Weinie is hard to miss. I've drove by it over a hundred times probably and finally stopped in for a few hot dogs to go. I got a basic dog, and it was a great price. The bun was FRESH. Not toasted (which is okay with me). The inside of the restaurant has a lot of fun decor.... More

I have eaten lunch here many times. I usually get the 1/4 pound big dog and fries and soda. The restaurant is in an old gas station decorated in airplane parts. It is a locally well known hangout for construction workers and tourists. The fries are rough cut and include the peel of the potatoes. It is rustic and unique.

I read about this place on a roadside attractions website, so we stopped in on our way to northern Iowa. The building and its inside decor are worth the stop alone. We were all set to order hot dogs until we saw the rest of the menu. They have more options than we were expecting. Our food was very good,... More

We travel from Missouri to Minnesota frequently and one of our favorite places to stop for a bite is The Flying Wienie. Food is good, the atmosphere is, what can I say, old garage, but very enjoyable. Owners and staff are very friendly. We may see you there sometime!

I've only had their Chicago dogs and gyros. Both are great, but the Chicago dogs are as good as anything in Chicago. A great dog on a steamed poppy-seed bun, mustard, banana peppers, fluorescent green relish, salt and a pickle spear. Definitely get the fries with it.

Family weekend getaway ( wife husband 4 kids) .Got information online about this unusual looking building. Stopped for lunch at 11am in a Friday. 1 car on the lot abd we thought maybe they were closed. Almost didnt stop. Glad we did. They got rushed about 1120am. While it looks a bit rundown outside the food was great. Gyro and... More

They primarily serve Chicago Dogs, but the do have many other sandwiches. My favorite thing is their French Fries. You order at the counter and the food service is fairly fast. Just a good local place for a quick lunch.

Waited for service, then waited for 30 minutes while the rest of the customers were served. Service is poor. Food was sub par. Never going back.

This is just about the only place in Cedar Rapids where you can get a good Chicago style hot dog. They have plenty of other good stuff like gyros and Italian beef. I stick to mostly their hot dogs and gyros which are both simply delectable. The location can be a bit suspect and the inside of the restaurant isn't... More
