We went there today for the first time. It was just okay for the price. My husband got the soft shell crab special. It tasted like the crab had turned. We let them know and they reassured us that it was received just the day before. Either way he was not going to eat it. It even smelled like it... More

I do not like spicy or Cajun food and was invited to try this place by a friend. It had a very interesting menu. I told the waiter i didn't like spicy foods so he helped me find something that could be made bland but tastful.I found something i thought would be good and told them no spice. It looked... More

Rice, gumbo, jambalaya. These are filling foods and when they taste as good as they do here big appetites are best. If you haven't been yet I suggest ordering the sampler plate appetizer for the table. That will give you the chance to try 4 popular dishes and see which you like before placing your order. Full selection of Abita... More

My wife and i went with another couple. Friday night around 6:00pm. We were seated immediately. Literally the BEST cajun food I've had. My wife ordered the fried catfish. I ordered the 'Who Dat' Po Boy and cajun collard greens. Sandwich was amazing. Best collard greens I've ever eaten. A guy with an electric guitar was set up in the... More

Discovered Fat Tuesday on a business trip and was so glad I did! Fried pickles, Cajun green beans, and jambalya. All fantastic! Interior is bright and festive, staff is helpful. Outside isn't much to look at but its what's inside that counts!

Best Cajun I have had since visiting New Orleans. I understand they've been here seven years, and somehow this is the first time I've been to Fat Tuesday. It is a little hole-in-the-wall for sure, but the food was out-of-this-world delicious. The owners Steven and Maria were crazy friendly! I will definitely be back, and I suspect this place will... If you like home cooked Cajun food.... Fat Tuesday is a great place.... We started with the combo appetizers... Fabulous gumbo..and beans...and Etouffee..... Had the Catfish smothered with Etouffee and rice and the Breaded Catfish with Cajun fries... The catfish wasn't really breaded.... more of a cornmeal coating.... Make sure to ask for the Crack sauce.... (Tarter sauce....) Best fish... More

Went to dinner with my mom, aunt, and my sister met us there. I got some complaints from my mom and aunt on the choice until we started eating! Knew i had made a great choice before that but the server truly perfected the evening! Fun and relaxed setting with amazing 🎶 music!!! Gumbo and jambalaya was so full of... More

If you want good Cajun food in Des Moines, this is the place. The restaurant is small and easy to miss from the road. But the food is always good. My favorites are the Gumbo, blackened catfish, collard greens and green beans. The green beans have potatoes in them and a nice bite to them. My husband's favorite is the... More
