OK, its crowded and you have to wait. But its generally worth it. Service, while seemingly chaotic, is effective and fast. Coffee is surprisingly good, and breakfast is prepared to perfection. Bring some change for the parking meter.

Last time I was here was a busy morning, since the place was virtually empty we figured service would be good tonight for dinner. It was not. Wait staff was disengaged and more interested in visiting among themselves. Two pulled pork sandwiches ordered in our group. Only one came with BBQ sauce. Took too long to get the missing one,... The food -- especially the breakfasts -- is always the best you've ever had. Love it. The sausage is a specialty that you should not pass up.

The service was prompt and friendly and the food is always good. The specials are usually excellent but the menu is somewhat limited in selection. I had the meatloaf, which is a huge portion and always good. My friend had the ratatouille and it was great.

Great place to meet a friend or business associate for breakfast. Solid menu, good service and tables are nicely spaced so you won't have to worry about being overheard.

It is easy to get stuck on one or two entrees because they are peedictably p delicious. At the Bluebird I would usually order one of their excellent burgers or the ratatoie on polenta. This time I broke with the usual and tried the pulled pork sandwich which was incredible! The shredded pork was piled on a fresh kaiser roll... More

We have been here several times so far. We will continue to go back. Homemade hollandaise says it all for me. Great breakfast! I had the eggs benedict which was fantastic (the eggs were a tad over) and my husband had the chorizo and eggs. He devoured his entire plate which speaks for itself.

We come here for breakfast whenever we're in Iowa City. The breakfast is always exceptional. The cinnamon roll is a great starter to share for the table--yes, it's that good and that big. All the egg dishes are great and are served with fantastic hash browns and toast. Ask if you can sub a pancake for the toast and ask... More

First off, I love the smoked pork chili, whether served as a sort of soup or topping eggs and polenta. In general, the Bluebird has great food. Over time, though, the diner has become, well, not so meticulous about cleanliness. The sidewalk entrance could use a major power washing to remove ground in grease. There has to be some way... While taking cross country trip, I looked up the local recommendations. Tracked down the Bluebird, arrived approx. 6pm. Ordered the Shrimp and Grits. They were wonderful. Fresh, quality food was worth a little detour. Dessert was a piece of coconut cake, which was wonderful, moist anf flavorful. Not sure it is worth an 800 mile trip from my home, but... More
