This place is solid if you're new in town and want a good, tasty burger. It won't blow you away and they don't take risks with their menu. It is a small bar setting that gets uncomfortable when busy. The cost, is a bit high too for what you get. For the adventurous types I would recommend walking a few... More

I had heard from people in our group that this place had great burgers and fries. Everyone agreed that our meals were honestly, awful. The buns were dry and stale and the meat wasn't any better. I was completely disappointed and am not sure if I will give it another shot. It was that bad.

Don't come to this restaurant if you are in a hurry. The service is terrible! Took over 25 minutes to get just a burger.

Nice friendly staff, good service, good burgers, and good fries. Asked for mediim rare burger and xtra crispy fries. Burger was perfect and fries better than perfect.

If you want an expansive beer list, good pub food, and close to campus with indoor/outdoor seating, this is your place. Great to meet friends after the game or after class.

It took the bartender 20-30 min to refill my water. I'm sitting at the bar and he's right there in front of me. He finally refilled my water. Instead of putting my food order into the computer, he tells one of the waiters my order and then to tell the kitchen staff what I wanted. I waited for 15-20 min.... More

An impressively large selection of unique burgers and great local Iowa beer on tap. Noisy like a bar, of course, because that's what it is. If you want the best service, sit at the bar. I ordered the Essex burger, which has great brie cheese on it, which you can really taste. The fries are very plain in a good... More

We loved this place! The burgers were huge. The beef is from a local farm (per the menu) and the fries and buns appeared to be made in-house. They had several unique combinations for their burgers. My husband had one with chorizo and avocado and mine had mozzarella, bacon, and basil mayonnaise. They were delicious!

I came to Shorts with some friends after visiting a best friend in Iowa City. This place has some of the best burgers I have ever tasted. Locally purchased meat with high quality, these burgers are cooked to order and come in various flavor makes. I got the Dundee special which included egg (one of my favorite types of burgers)....
