Me and my partner decided to give the bear a look for Sunday roast. We didn't mind that it was a bit more expensive than you would normally pay for a Sunday roast. We ordered our drinks and before ordering our meal asked what vegetables we're on that day and was told carrots cabbage and Brockley. I ordered the beef... More

The Bear has recently been taken over by new owners. We tried it out when they first took over and was very impressed by the quality of the food. We tried it again this week after the refit. The refit has made an amazing difference, making the whole area much more open and pleasant place to be. The staff were... More

Having read about their recent refurbishment and looked at their re-vamped website, it seemed time to give them another go, after a disappointing evening a couple of years ago. Sadly, we were wrong. OK, so it was a Tuesday and the fact that we were the ONLY couple in our half of the restaurant didn't help the lack of atmosphere.... More

This pub has recently reopened after a refurb and new management, so we thought we would have dinner there and give it a try. We were greeted as we walked in and shown to our table in one of the dining areas, soulless is how I would describe the room, stark and not cosy in the slightest, It's a shame... More

We recently visited The Bear Inn again for a family celebration. It was a warm Sunday lunchtime, there were thirteen of us - one celiac and one vegan lactose intolerant - and all to celebrate our eldest nieces 18th birthday, Warm welcome from front of house team, got our drinks and where gently guided to our seats as we were... Visited one Friday evening and were incredibly disappointed. Ordered the sausages and mash which arrived with vegetables that were stone cold and a lumpy gravy which I can only presume was meant to be the 'red wine jus'. The rest of family ordered the steak and chips which was ok, but the chips tasted as if they had been microwaved.... More

We have lived in this area for just over 15 years and have never bothered with 'The Bear'. However we found out that it was under new management and could see that there was some major refurbishment going on so we thought we'd try it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food isn't cheap but it's not extortionate... More

The food was tasty but a bit pricey. £15 for sausages and pies is quite keen. The renovations are on going to the outside front of the property, and the inside still feels like it needs dressing and lacked a bit of atmosphere. The staff were friendly enough, but to charge main courses £15 upwards something is not still missing.

My partner and I have recently moved to the area and happened to drive past The Bear at Beyton one Sunday and decided to try it for lunch. I love to eat Sunday lunch out but am usually disappointed by the quality, especially of restaurant roast potatoes......but was very pleasantly surprised by the meal we had at The Bear, the... More

Not recommended for food. Expensive for what is served. A vegetable wellington had burnt pastry and the accompanying vegetables were obviously reheated from the day before; colcannon accompanying the tasty sausages was notcolcannon, just potato with some kale mixed in. Both dishes twice the price of similar pub food in other places but definitely not "restaurant" quaity. Service friendly and... More
