We just stopped here for drinks and french fries during a hash (run), and really enjoyed their wealth of porters and stouts. So along with the beers, we needed some fries, and they are served with 4 sauces. Try them all!

First of all host and hostess were terrible, acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me have a seat. Very rude very bad attitude. Waitresses about knocked you down. Order completely wrong. Food was so-so at best.

Really quaint, cozy gastropub. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Loved the concept behind of many of their dishes. Unfortunately, I think their execution could use a little something extra. I had a pasta dish where my pasta was a bit more than aldente. My friends both had seafood dishes, one of which was recommended by the server. One was lacking flavor--which was... More

Came in for a quick bite and was surprised at the great environment. Fresh food, great service, and tasty burgers. A must-eat in Lexington!

We were in Lexington on a short trip and stumbled upon this place. I liked the name so we wandered in to check it out at an off hour between lunch and dinner. The menu seemed pretty interesting and so we returned later that day for dinner. When we got there without a reservation we were told that they had... More

Wood and brick interior, old-time motif. Mostly a bar downstairs, mostly a restaurant upstairs, although there is a bar upstairs as well. Decent wine list, with one or two modest choices of most popular varietals, at reasonable prices. However, this is a beer bar, with lots of craft beers, many of them local. Nice selection of Belgian and Trappist beers.... More

Had the opportunity to dine at The Village Idiot as part of a work-related national sales meeting in Lexington. Restaurant is somewhat upscale and the menu pricing certainly reflects this fact. Unfortunately, our group of 18 was split in 1/2 and we were given two very cramped tables on the 2nd floor and in separate rooms. Overall, the culinary experience... More

We had a cramped table with hard seating. Table next to us was very close....and loud. Sales people on a convention who knew other tables....and talked to them throughout the meal. Waitress was over busy and two of the items we ordered must have ran out, so without a menu we were asked to make other choices. Food was average,... More

We ate here with our son and all were pleased with the menu choices. There was a wait but it was not long.

Salmon croquettes with dill sauce and breakfast platter with bacon, sausage, sunny side eggs and potatoes. Great option downtown for brunch with a few lunch items available. Under 30 bucks.
