Authentic surroundings from old plantation with great service and food. We had the waitress recommend dishes and all were outstanding, gumbo - red rice and po'boy.

Today we had a family celebration for a retirement and we thought Homas House would be a great place to celebrate. On Friday, August 19, 2016 I called to make a reservation for eleven of which three are children. They person taking my reservation assured me we would have the buffet and a menu to order from. That was good... More

We went out of our way to eat at this restaurant because it was recommended by one of the other plantations we toured earlier in the day. 1st of all you have to pay in the gift shop prior to eating at the restaurant (you do get a credit on your dinner bill but it was a slight pain in... More

A very nice menu to choose from or you can do the buffet. Most of our crew went with the eggplant stuffed with crab. Excellent young eggplant lightly fried with large chunks of white crabmeat in between the layers.($20) The buffet had BBQ chicken, fried cornmeal fish fillets, crawfish ettoufee, shrimp pasta, corn mochaux, chicken and andouille gumbo--- a lot... My wife and I dropped by for lunch just prior to our tour of the formal gardens. There is a regular luncheon menu and also a buffet, both of which looked interesting. We opted for the buffet and selected from a number of possibilities. There was gumbo, red beans and rice, etoufee, fried catfish, a shrimp dish, corn machoux, Caesar... More

Good service. Great lunch at reasonable price. The dragonfly biscuits with praline butter were awesome. I had the turkey/Brie sandwich. Loved it.

The tour of the Plantation House was absolutely fabulous. The guide was beautiful and did a fantastic job. After the tour we went to lunch. Had a turkey brie sandwich that was really dry. My husband had a Creole pasta. The shrimp were very small, but good. This is a beautiful place and well worth the tour of the house... More

Everything about our lunch was slow!!! We planned a nice lunch and then a tour of the beautiful grounds. Unfortunately, lunch took so long that we had to rush in the gardens. If you eat at the restaurant, you can view the gardens for free. Allow plenty of time--for the slow restaurant and a walk in the gardens.

Right behind the Houmas House Plantation house sits Café Burnside in the Pavillion. It has a wonderful staff and a superior kitchen. The River Road buffet is expansive an may prove bigger than your appetite. We love and recommend the Eggplant Napoleon. And what could be a better setting - right in the Houmas House garden area. It is well... More
