Stopped here at the recommendation of Capt. Billy Gaston after one of his Cajun Man Swamp Tours. About a 15-20 minute drive into town past many lovely Louisiana homes, this restaurant did not disappoint. We enjoyed the fried duck strips, shrimp po-boys and catfish. Skip the fried green tomatoes - too thick and not tender. Service was speedy.

The food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful. Our waitress was spectacular. If I'm ever in the area again I plan to visit them again.

Everything I tried here was great. Gumbo, craw daddy's, shrimp, and then the alligator. I thought I knew what alligator tasted like until now. Can't believe how great it was. I loved it!!!! We arrived at the restaurant around 5:00 PM and expected to wait but that was not the case. It was crowded but the service was good. I never had eaten alligator so wanted to try that and have gumbo. Both were good. The menu had so many options it was hard to decide. Give them a visit if you are... More

It takes for ever for service , you can have better seafood and less tacky service in town. The food took forever n cold, the waitress was not into it.

Big Al's was suggested by the front desk so our group tried it. Rustic decor but clean and staff was friendly and all smiles. I had the shrimp salad and had the choice of boiled, fried or grilled shrimp. I was being good so I did grilled. Thickest Ranch dressing I've ever had and tasty. The rest of the table... More

Grilled instead of fried? No problem. The staff at Big Al's is friendly and accommodating. Try their plate lunches -- especially the shrimp-stuffed mirliton. Yum! Open for lunch on Sundays too.
