Best sandwich EVER! The bread was crispy, the meat was tinder, juices were running down my elbow, the jalapeño mayonnaise elevator to the point of heaven!

They make po boy sandwiches an art. The gravy on them is awesome but makes it messy. Might want to ask for a fork to eat some out of the bun before you start munching on it.

I don't know where to begin. Great sandwich, terrible customer service. Rude with attitude unbecoming of any restautant my family cares to patronize. Firstly, the phone is always busy. Very difficult to get anyone on the phone to place an order. So we ordered a...very big order on Doordash (over $100), expecting we would have an option to notate our order needed to be packed for travel. We did not see that option and saw that our order was confirmed. Fortunately, (we thought) we were able to get them by phone, within a minute or two of order confimation. When we aksed if we could have the order packed for travel, they said no, that the order for 6 sandwiches had already been prepared. We placed the order at 11:07, and had them on the phone at 11:08 with our request. 11:09 an email confirmation that order was received. Pick up time scheduled for 11:45 to 11:50. Our call at 11:08, they told us the order was already complete and they could not pack it for travel. We went as far as to drive to the restaurant and attempt to reason with them. The owner/manager refused to do anything to make it right, claiming that 36 years in business that they are not worried about an unhappy customer. We won't ever go back, despite the fact we have supported their small businees for many years, prayed they survive hurricaine Laura and other tragic events in the area. The attitude we received from management was so disheartening, like a stab in the back from an old friend. Farewell. Your sandwich is good, but not that good.More

Had the special with the jalapeño Mayo. It was dynamite. It’s not a Ferdi but it’s real good. It’s affordable, friendly, and a definite return visit.

My son recommended this place and it was by far favorite meal while we visited. I loved the bar and grill atmosphere. Now let’s talk important stuff… Po Boy !!! Between the 4 of us we all had one type or another. Words do not...describe how extremely messy goodness was eaten thst day. Definite place to eat !!!More

Will I drive 6 hours round trip for a sandwich? Yes Have I driven 6 hours round trip for a sandwich more than once? Also Yes. There's something special about Darrell's and the food served, especially the Darrell's Special. Something happens when the meat, gravy...and jalapeño mayo get together...it's magical. The food is fabulous quick bites. The service is always on point. We've stopped in many times. Sometimes we dine in, sometimes we grab pickup. We both had their shrimp po-boy which was great. It is unique in that the shrimp are sautéed rather than fried and their home made po-boy bread is excellent with a crisp outside and soft inside. The shrimp are rather spicy and the thing is...messy to eat. We will stop here again when in Lake Charles.More

I don’t really go here that much but when I have visitors I like to bring them. They are the OG po boy joint. Very low maintenance, they dont even have a fryer to make fries (my suggestion!) but you always get chips on the...side. Lunches here are so good- be prepared to use a million napkins. Also don’t skip the jalapeño Mayo- this makes the sandwich!More

Shrimp Poboy was uniquely great! Grilled shrimp poboy with jalapeños was on point. Spicy Cajun Shrimp Sauteed in special sauce was very good.

Every-time I visit Lake Charles I MUST have a Darrells Shrimp PoBoy! One of the best sandwiches around. Would recommend this place to anyone! Love it

Traveling in a group of nine you can imagine that tastes can vary and someone always has to compromise. But not here! The three kids were happy with their Uncrustables with a pickle on the side, while the adults ranging from 33 to 83 found...something delicious, too. The rolls are AMAZING. Everything is clean and our waitress was one of the best ever, patient and attentive. We live in Alabama, but will be back someday!More
