Had a great meal. Lovely home cooked food and unusual wines and beers. Great hospitality and everybody so helpful. Need to make reservations for Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes. Will definitely be visiting again.

A quiet small country pub in the middle of the Hampshire countryside. Looks average on the outside, no ostentatious decking or signage to speak of. The interior is low key and functional, a typical country pub. However, the appearance of the pub belies the superb food on offer here. A small menu of local produce is tasty and well presented,... Drove here as we'd heard it was good and really glad we made the effort. Also glad that we'd booked, as it was pretty busy! Lovely little touches like a different selection of non-alcoholic drinks for the drivers and home made chilli pork scratchings on the bar (which were hot!) The service was friendly and efficient. Had the Tunworth cheese... More

Came here for lunch and I had the Tunworth and bacon burger which was sublime. The bacon itself had so much flavour - unlike any I'd tried before! Chips were crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. My partner had the chicken burger and sweet potato fries and she said that was delicious too. Chocolate brownie... More

We were definitely passing trade. We pulled off the A339 on seeing the sign for the pub at 1215ish pm on a Saturday. "Have you booked?" "No, sorry, can you fit us in? We were just passing" The lady behind the bar despatched a lass to prepare table 11 for three persons and we were in business. There were three... More

We were that one unlucky table where everything seems to go wrong! Some of which could of been helped with better communication between front and back of house. When you're asked for dietary requirements when booking, these should be passed to the waitress and kitchen. For example when we said 1 is gluten free, there should be gluten free bread... More

Discovered this pub; what a find! I had hake and my companions had a range including pie, duck and burgers. It all looked delicious and all plates were cleared - the pie eaters wanted to lick their plates clean! The ambiance is warm and cosy and the seating very comfortable. The landlady was welcoming and attentive and the place was... More

My cousin booked this place based on the reviews and location. We were having a family reunion in celebration of my Aunt's 95 birthday. It was pleasant enough! But just seemed to be lacking something, but I just can't put my finger on it. We went for Sunday lunch so everyone had varying versions of a roast, the food was... More

The four of us had a very tasty two course lunch. Shared fish platter and baked Camembert for starters. Home made beef pie and sirloin steak for main. Good produce, cooked well and very tasty. Portion sizes were good. A little on the pricey side for a lunch however there were no complaints. Will visit again for any special occasions.

An individual, independent family owned and run free house.
Daily changing menu cooked with local ingredients when available. We are able to source world award winning cheese, lamb, eggs and game when in season from our village.
We have four real ale pumps and sell at least two local ales at all times alongside Sharp's Doom Bar. We have a large wine list, many served by the glass and an extensive Gin & Whisky offering.
The building is Victorian with huge windows and high ceilings and heated by two log burners throughout winter, for the summer we have a large garden with patio area seating with our resident chickens for entertainment.
