Looked this place up when moving down here. Rated highly online and for a good reason. Best gumbo in Metairie. Maybe even New Orleans. Poboys are good too! Pretty chill place so don't expect a fancy dinner.

We were hungry and we YELPed for recommendations and this place came up. Our son, texted a couple friends for input and they said they had heard this place was AWESOME so we tried it. This is the real deal for great NOLA food. The...More

Second visit. Went at 6:45p and there was a wait. They can only sit about 34 people total. It did not look like they could handle the amount of business in there... Service was not the best for the two waitresses, but they tried. Had...More

Don't let the building fool you, the food is good. Place is somewhat small and was crowded- they have a large take out crowd. Flavor was authentic -my Mother was born and raised in Louisanna, and it tasted like my mamas'a!

Although the name is about gumbo, I am always in search of a good oyster poboy. I was so pleased with the poboy. The oysters were large, fresh, and fried perfectly. The bread and dressings used were so tasty. It was a great experience. Now,...More

The gumbo is great, but I would also recommend the fried chicken and the shrimp Creole.don't be put off if there's a line because they have an extra room to seat people. Service is fast and definitely worth the wait.

If you want a great taste of Louisianan food then go no further than Chef Ron's. Great value and Chef Ron came and chatted at our table. A very nice person in a city that sometimes feels like you are getting hustled.

What a wonderful small restaurant with great food! We enjoyed the cozy seating, able to talk to other friendly customers as you enjoyed your meals. Close quarters, but enjoyable. We started with the gumbo which was superb. Got a shrimp poboy with potato salad which...More

This place is small but big on taste and fresh flavors. Each bite was packed full of meat. My suggestion is get the Mumbo Gumbo. It's plenty of food and good on price. The place was packed and people keep coming in and out of...More
